We are currently on the lookout for Behaviour Support Assistants to work in a range of primary and alternative education settings across Newport. This is an ideal opportunity for individuals passionate about supporting children with social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH), ADHD, and anxiety-related behaviours.
Your Role Will Include:
- Providing one-to-one and small group support, focusing on behavioural guidance and emotional well-being.
- Encouraging an inclusive atmosphere where all pupils feel safe, understood, and motivated to learn.
- Supporting children with a variety of needs such as SEMH, ADHD, and anxiety – no two days are the same.
- Helping implement individual strategies that promote positive choices and emotional development.
- Building rapport with pupils, staff, and families to create a strong and united support system.
- Supporting students to improve their communication, social skills, and emotional resilience.
We’re Looking For Someone Who:
- Has a Team Teach qualification (or is open to completing one – we’ll support you with this!).
- Connects well with children and builds trusting relationships with ease.
- Brings a calm, positive, and encouraging approach to behaviour management.
- Communicates clearly and sensitively with both young people and adults.
- Has a solid level of spoken and written English.
- Ideally has experience in SEND, mental health support, or a care-related role (though not essential).
- Is available full-time (Monday–Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm).
- Is registered with the EWC (or is happy for us to help with registration).

To Be Considered, You Will Need:
