Vision for Education are proud to be recruiting an experienced Learning Support Assistant to join a well-established and supportive primary school in Shoreham-By-Sea.

About the role

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled and confident Learning Support Assistant who has a strong understanding of supporting pupils with autism and additional needs. You will play a vital role in providing 2:1 targeted support for a pupil with autism, helping them to regulate their emotions, engage with learning and make meaningful progress both academically and socially.

Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and another experienced support professional, you will contribute to the planning and delivery of tailored strategies that support positive behaviour, emotional regulation and access to the curriculum. Your experience will allow you to recognise triggers, implement effective interventions and adapt your approach to meet the child’s individual needs.

We are seeking a calm, patient and proactive professional who is confident in building strong relationships and creating a safe, structured and nurturing learning environment. You will bring creativity and initiative to the role, using engaging and purposeful activities to promote independence, resilience and a positive attitude towards learning.

Requirements

  • Desirable: Level 3 Teaching Assistant
  • Ideally have prior school experience working with young people with SEND, SEMH or challenging behavioural needs.
  • Be confident in behaviour management skills to de-escalate any threatening or aggressive behaviour.
  • Desired: Team teach or PRICE trained.
  • You will need to be resilient, empathetic, patient and not take things too personally.
