The Role and School

We are recruiting for experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) to work across a range of welcoming and supportive primary schools throughout Swansea. This is an excellent opportunity for confident and motivated individuals who can take a leading role in the classroom, support teaching and learning across different year groups, and make a positive impact on pupils' educational development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead whole-class learning in the absence of the class teacher
  • Deliver targeted intervention programmes across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2
  • Support teachers with lesson planning, preparation, and assessment activities
  • Provide guidance and support to Teaching Assistants and other support staff
  • Assist in creating an engaging, inclusive, and positive learning environment
  • Support pupils with varying learning needs to achieve their full potential

Requirements

  • HLTA qualification or equivalent experience
  • Level 6 qualification or relevant degree in Childhood Studies, Education, or a related field
  • Strong classroom management and leadership skills
  • Experience working across primary key stages
  • Excellent communication and organisational abilities

  • Have experience working with secondary-aged children
  • Be patient, caring, and committed to supporting pupil progress and wellbeing
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Be adaptable, proactive, and able to use their initiative
  • Be confident supporting both individual learners and whole-class activities
  • Have a positive and enthusiastic approach to education
