We're currently recruiting a Senior Lead Pharmacy Technician to drive our clinical trials aseptic services at Hammersmith Hospital. In this pivotal role you will coordinate all pharmaceutical aspects of clinical trials prepared in the aseptic unit, liaising with research teams and sponsors, designing robust dispensing procedures, and ensuring impeccable records and audit trails.
Main Responsibilities
- Bring technical excellence to day‐to‐day aseptic services, including optimising our CMM pharmacy system with well‐designed worksheets and labels for trial products.
- Act as an educator and role model, develop technicians and assistants, deliver on‐the‐job training, and maintain a strong CPD portfolio.
- Advise and assist research teams to set‐up and run clinical trials, acting independently with expert support from the clinical trials and dispensary teams.
- Manage a portfolio of studies, covering a broad range of commercial, academic and Imperial‐sponsored trials, delivering specialised therapies to patients.
- Work across up to 400 active trials, contributing to the development of personalised and precision medicines as part of the largest BRC in the UK.
Education and Qualifications
- Recognised pharmacy technician qualification (NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent).
- Registered Technician with the GPhC.
- Mandatory professional CPD as defined by the GPhC.
- Accredited Checking Technician (or to be achieved within 12 months) for both PN and chemotherapy (in‐check and final check).
Experience
- Post‐qualification grounding in all aspects of hospital pharmacy practice including aseptic services, ward/distribution services, dispensary and clinical trials.
- Previous experience in training others.
- Previous experience in managing pharmacy computer systems.
Skills
- Excellent professional written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to communicate empathetically towards patients.
