We are recruiting 5 Consultant Anaesthetists for our department at St Mary's Hospital and Charing Cross Hospital.

Responsibilities

  • The successful candidate will provide clinical services in anaesthesia, peri‐operative care, attending theatre and pre‐operative assessment clinics as part of a team‐based approach for adult patients.
  • Clinical activities (8.5 PA per week) – pre‐op assessment clinics, elective and emergency theatre work, peri‐operative medicine including acute pain management, MDT meetings, and on‐call activity.
  • Supporting Professional Activities (1.5 PA per week) – audit, clinical governance, teaching, research, educational supervision of junior staff and CPD.
  • On‐call commitments: 1:12 rota (adults St Mary's), 1:10 rota (paeds St Mary's) and 1:15 rota (Charing Cross).
  • Work in operating theatre, emergency department and remote sites such as MRI, CT and interventional radiology.
  • Opportunity to participate in research, teaching, training, governance, leadership and QI projects.

Qualifications

  • On the Specialist Register with a CCT (or equivalent) in Anaesthesia, or within 6 months of gaining a CCT.
  • Outstanding anaesthetic skills with subspecialty interests (e.g., urology, regional anaesthesia, orthopaedics, peri‐operative medicine, head and neck/airway anaesthesia).

Remuneration

  • 10 PA per week for a whole‐time contract (8.5 DCC and 1.5 SPA).
  • On‐call remuneration: Charing Cross – 0.5 PA with 3% supplement; St Mary's adults – 1 PA with 3% supplement; St Mary's paeds – 0.75 PA with 3% supplement.
