We are recruiting for a Band 6 Clinical Research Nurse to join the Neuro, Emergency and Trauma (NET) Research Team at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, primarily based at St Mary's Hospital, Paddington, with cross-site working at Charing Cross Hospital, Hammersmith. This role supports studies within the NET portfolio, including patient-facing study delivery, support and management from set-up through to dissemination of research findings.

Main Duties

  • Facilitate efficient, safe and participant-focused research.
  • Contribute to the management of the local portfolio of clinical research studies.
  • Identify and recruit patients eligible for clinical research studies.
  • Act as mentor to new members of staff.
  • Provide cross cover for other members of the research team.
  • Manage a portfolio of research projects on a day-to-day basis.
  • Ensure timely and accurate documentation of trial data according to current legislation, guidance and best practice (including GCP).
  • Work collaboratively within the MDT to provide expertise in assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of clinical research protocols.
  • Demonstrate autonomy and collaboration within the MDT.
  • Use own initiative, take responsibility for decision-making and prioritise workload within a team and individually.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of processes, procedures and tools (including databases) for effective research delivery.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Registered Nurse.
  • Relevant experience at Band 5 within a relevant speciality.
  • Experience of supervising junior staff, SLICE or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of research and audit.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Ability to practice within the scope of the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
  • Knowledge of the NHS Plan and its application to practice.

Desirable

  • Degree/Diploma in Nursing.
  • Research experience.
  • Emergency/ICU/Neuro nursing experience.
  • Experience coordinating and managing clinical trials for investigational medicinal products.
