We are excited to offer an opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated, and forward-thinking pharmacist to join our Asthma & Pharmacy Specialist Medicine Team at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. The team provides clinical pharmacy services across several specialties within the Specialist Medicine directorates. This is a split role: three days are funded by the asthma service where you will work with the asthma MDT including running a pre-biologic asthma adherence check clinic, and two days you will work within the pharmacy specialist medicine team. We are looking for a self-motivated and organised individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You should be confident working with a wide range of healthcare professionals and comfortable using various IT systems and databases. There may be flexibility to reduce the hours on the pharmacy days for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

  • To lead, deliver, manage and develop a high quality patient focused pharmacy service to asthma patients.
  • To take active part in the multidisciplinary team meetings for asthma patients prescribed biologic medicines or other drugs to ensure prescribing & doses are appropriate.
  • To manage a caseload of asthma patients & continue to develop the role of the pharmacist in clinics working alongside the specialist nurses and consultants.
  • To ensure all asthma patients prescribed high cost drugs are funded appropriately.
  • To lead work with the specialist nurses & consultants to implement adoption of new asthma medicines when appropriate products become available.
  • To offer expert advice on medication and pharmaceutical issues to the asthma team and other health care professionals.

Essential Education / Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent
  • Higher degree or diploma in clinical pharmacy or equivalent relevant postgraduate experience
  • Qualified as an Independent Prescriber
  • Member of the General Pharmaceutical Council

Desirable

  • Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain

Experience

Essential

  • Appropriate post-registration training and experience in hospital Pharmacy in the UK, this must include a solid grounding in all aspects of hospital pharmacy practice (medicines information, aseptic services, ward services and dispensing)
  • Experience of managing funding applications for high cost drugs
  • Evidence of service development, facilitating change by collaborating with stakeholders to produce innovative practice and showing improved patient outcomes

Desirable

  • Experience of drug expenditure reporting
  • Evidence of research or project work
  • Experience of working with asthma patients prescribed biologic medicine
