Healthcare Support Worker – Diabetes & Endocrine
Position within our day ward & outpatient team, located in the Diabetes & Endocrine centre at St. Mary\’s Hospital, London.
Job Summary
Work in a fast‑paced day unit and outpatient clinics focusing on metabolic and endocrine testing. Develop strong teamwork, flexibility, and patient care skills while performing clerical, reception, and clinical support tasks.
Responsibilities
- Provide efficient clerical and reception support to the Diabetes & Endocrine Centre.
- Assist in the delivery of metabolic, endocrine and diabetes diagnostic tests in the Metabolic Day Ward and Centre.
- Follow ICHNT policies and ensure a safe, person‑centred environment for patients.
- Support the clinical and administrative team to deliver high‑standard patient care in accordance with Trust values.
Qualifications and Experience
- Completed Care Certificate or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrable literacy, numeracy and communication skills in English (functional skills or GCSE level).
- Experience working in an acute hospital setting or as a Band 2 HCSW.
- Experience delivering personal care and using computers.
Required Skills
- Basic IT system knowledge or willingness to train.
- Phlebotomy certificate or relevant qualification.
Desirable Skills / Experience
- Further qualifications or relevant training.
- Level 2 or 3 Health Care qualification or completion of Band 3 Excellence in Care Competencies.
- Experience with clinical observations, ECG taking, cannulation, or working with complex health needs.
