The Neuroscience Research Team is seeking a B6 Clinical Research Nurse to support a diverse portfolio of clinical research studies, including Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, and Motor Neurone Disease. The role will be based at Charing Cross Hospital, Fulham Palace Road, Hammersmith, London, and will involve study delivery, support and management from the set‑up phase through to dissemination of research findings, alongside recruitment, education and monitoring of participants. Prior knowledge of research and/or specialist clinical areas, venepuncture and cannulation skills are advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate efficient, safe and participant‑focused research.
  • Contribute to the management of the local portfolio of clinical research studies.
  • Identify and recruit patients eligible to enter clinical research studies.
  • Ensure adherence to clinical study protocols.
  • Work according to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and Research Governance standards.
  • Mentor new staff members.
  • Provide cross‑cover for other members of the research team.
  • Manage a portfolio of research projects on a day‑to‑day basis.
  • Accountable for timely and accurate documentation of trial data.
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to provide expertise in assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of clinical research protocols.
  • Use own initiative, take responsibility for decision‑making and prioritise workload within a team and individual context.
  • Assist in development and maintenance of procedures and tools, including databases.
  • Maintain good working relationships with outpatient clinics, primary and other secondary care services and agencies involved in clinical research.

  • Registered Nurse

  • Degree/Diploma in Nursing

Essential experience

  • Relevant experience at Band 5 within a relevant speciality, including supervision of junior staff.
  • Experience of coordinating and managing clinical trials for investigational medicinal products.
  • Knowledge of research and audit, and evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Ability to practice within the scope of the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
  • Ability to demonstrate application of the NHS Plan to own sphere of practice.
