Visible Analytics are seeking a statistician (at Statistician or Associate Statistician level) to join our specialist analytics team. Our team undertakes analyses of clinical trials and observational/real-world evidence studies together with evidence syntheses in order to understand the value of new health technologies. Our research is frequently used to inform real-world health care decisions, including decision-making at the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence in the UK.
This is a very exciting opportunity for a statistician to develop valuable health technology assessment (HTA)-related analytical skills and experience working alongside highly regarded specialists, together with our network of academic partners, in this growing and often challenging area.
The appointee will be expected to support and undertake statistical analyses for HTA projects, often using cutting-edge approaches, e.g. adjustment for treatment switching in clinical trials, population-adjusted indirect comparisons and surrogate outcome analysis. The outputs of this research may be stand-alone reports for clients or used to inform cost-effectiveness analyses conducted by the health economics team. The person recruited for this role will have the opportunity to undertake external training as well as mentoring and career development opportunities from our senior scientists.
Candidate Requirements
The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and motivated about statistical aspects of HTA and be willing to support multiple projects with tasks varying project by project. Candidates will need to show evidence of a logical and systematic approach to their work, accuracy and attention to detail, have excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Associate Statistician:
- Relevant MSc (applied statistics, biostatistics, statistics)
- Experience of one or more statistics packages (R, SAS, Stata)
- Knowledge of statistical analyses in a clinical trials setting (e.g. subgroup analyses, survival analysis) and observational studies (e.g. adjustment for confounders) and evidence synthesis methods (e.g. network meta-analysis)
- Knowledge of Bayesian methods and software is desirable
- Good knowledge of MS Office programmes; Excel, Word, PowerPoint
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English, coupled with high-quality interpersonal skills
- Excellent time-management skills
- Enthusiasm for developing your knowledge of HTA
- Statistician:
- Relevant MSc (applied statistics, biostatistics, statistics) and 3+ years’ experience in a health research or HTA setting
- Experience of one or more statistics packages (R, SAS, Stata)
- Experience of statistical analyses in a clinical trials setting (e.g. subgroup analyses, survival analysis) and observational studies (e.g. adjustment for confounders) and evidence synthesis methods (e.g. network meta-analysis)
- Knowledge and/or experience of Bayesian methods and software is desirable
- Experience of drafting statistical analysis plans and reports, and contributing to quality control checks
- Good knowledge of MS Office programmes; Excel, Word, PowerPoint
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English, coupled with high-quality interpersonal skills
- Excellent time-management skills and aptitude for project management
- Enthusiasm for growing your knowledge of HTA
- Experience of client communication (especially to non-statisticians)

This is a permanent, full-time position. The role will be UK-based, either hybrid (Oxford or London offices) or remote. Regular visits to the Oxford office will be expected, including for London-based and remote workers. UK and international travel may be required. This role is not eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route.
