We are seeking an experienced Semiconductor Metrology Equipment Engineer to support, maintain, and continuously improve advanced wafer inspection and metrology systems within a semiconductor manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will have a proven track record working with critical inspection tools, ensuring maximum tool uptime, accuracy, and process capability. This role plays a key part in yield improvement, process control, and sustaining high‐volume manufacturing through expert technical support of metrology platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical ownership for semiconductor metrology and inspection equipment, ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant operation.
  • Install, qualify, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair metrology systems to minimise downtime and optimise performance.
  • Act as subject matter expert for inspection and surface‐analysis tools, supporting manufacturing, process engineering, and yield teams.
  • Lead fault finding, root cause analysis, and corrective actions across equipment, hardware, software, and process interfaces.
  • Drive continuous improvement activities to enhance tool availability, performance, and data quality.
  • Support equipment upgrades, retrofits, and recipe optimisation in line with process requirements.
  • Work closely with tool vendors for advanced troubleshooting, escalations, and long‐term reliability initiatives.
  • Maintain documentation including maintenance procedures, calibration records, and change control.
  • Participate in Fab support rotations, including on‐call or shift coverage where required.
  • Ensure all work is completed in compliance with semiconductor cleanroom, safety, and quality standards.

Equipment & Systems Experience (Preferred)

  • Hands‐on experience with one or more of the following semiconductor metrology and inspection platforms:
    • Takano Surfscan systems
    • Dragonfly inspection systems
    • Camtek inspection systems
    • Optical microscopes and advanced light‐based inspection tools
    • Scanning Electron Microscopes (SEM)
    • Other semiconductor metrology and yield‐monitoring systems (e.g. defect inspection, overlay, CD, surface analysis)

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as an Equipment Engineer or Metrology Engineer within the semiconductor industry.
  • Strong background supporting high‐precision inspection and metrology tools in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose complex equipment and process issues with a structured, data‐driven approach.
  • Experience working in cleanroom environments and high‐volume fabs.
  • Strong understanding of semiconductor process control, yield analysis, and data integrity.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross‐functional teams.
  • Proven track record of delivering measurable improvements to tool uptime, reliability, or yield.
  • Clear technical communication skills, both written and verbal.

Qualifications (Preferred)

  • Degree or equivalent experience in Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Physics, or Semiconductor Engineering.
  • OEM training or certifications on relevant metrology systems.
  • Experience supporting multiple process nodes or advanced semiconductor technologies.
