Job Description

You will translate business goals into automation, infrastructure-as-code (IaC), and platform guardrails, focusing on reducing operational toil, optimizing cloud spend (FinOps), and enhancing platform reliability. In your role you will help us achieve our goals and deliver success on behalf of our internal customers by:

  • Delivering End-to-End technical project consulting, engineering, deployment and support.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Develop and maintain cloud solutions using automation tools like Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
  • Platform Engineering: Build self-service platforms and standardized patterns that allow product teams to deliver services efficiently.
  • Security Compliance: Implement and enforce robust security measures, including IAM roles, network security, and compliance monitoring.
  • FinOps Cost Optimization: Analyze usage and costs to optimize resource allocation, including rightsizing and auto-scaling.
  • Incident Management: Provide expert-level troubleshooting, incident response, and performance monitoring.

This is a hybrid position, with the expectation being 3 days per week in the Cambridge office.

Qualifications

Must haves:

  • Deep wide experience: Design, deployment, administration, remediation troubleshooting across: AWS, Azure - Cloud native services, Containerisation, EKS and other orchestration technologies.
  • Automation tools (Terraform, Cloud Formation, Ansible, Foreman, Chef, Salt, Puppet, Jenkins, etc).
  • Build system, source code management; e.g. GitLab / GitHub / TeamCity etc.
  • Automated OS Application patching technologies.
  • Linux operating systems, including its architecture, installation, hardening, troubleshooting, patching and operational maintenance.
  • Exposure working in a highly audited, compliance-led environment.
  • Good familiarity: IP networking, DNS, and firewalling.
  • Python, shell scripts and command-line tools.
  • Process-driven ITSM tooling (Jira, ServiceNow or similar).
  • Clear strong verbal written communication skills and natural willingness to collaborate across teams and organisations.
  • Management optimisation of AD, Hyper-V, RDS, Azure, MS365, Teams, Sharepoint, WSO, AWS, MFA, SSO.
  • Authoring technical, peer user-facing documentation.
  • Experience of DevOps / CICD environments.
