The Senior Director, Acceptance Segment Lead is a senior commercial leadership role within Visa Europe’s Acceptance Centre of Excellence (CoE). Reporting to the VP of Acceptance CoE – Europe, this role provides pan‑European leadership for a priority merchant segment, acting as the single expert voice for that segment across Europe.

Segment Strategy & Leadership

  • Own and lead the Europe‑wide strategy for the assigned segment, aligned to Visa Europe growth priorities and the Acceptance CoE roadmap.
  • Act as the senior subject matter expert and advocate for the segment, representing merchant and acquirer needs in regional and global forums.
  • Build strong alignment across clusters, ensuring consistent execution of segment priorities while respecting local account ownership and reporting lines.

Commercial Growth & Revenue Delivery

  • Deliver shared regional revenue targets for the segment, in close collaboration with cluster sales teams, Account Executives and Business Development.
  • Identify, prioritise and drive scalable growth opportunities, including new use cases, products, partnerships and business models relevant to the segment.
  • Develop compelling value propositions and segment‑specific sales plays that improve win rates and deal velocity across markets.

Pipeline & Business Development

  • Build and maintain a high quality, pan‑European segment pipeline, supporting clusters on deal strategy, solutioning and execution.
  • Improve conversion and win rates by bringing together product expertise, market insight and commercial storytelling.
  • Partner with Business Development to identify new segment entrants, long‑tail opportunities and potential cobrand or ecosystem partnerships.

Client & Partner Engagement

  • Strengthen senior level relationships with key merchants, acquirers and payment enablers within the segment.
  • Lead structured client engagement, including segment level account planning, executive briefings and QBRs.
  • Represent Visa externally through industry events, client forums and thought leadership relevant to the segment.

Enablement & Centre of Excellence Role

  • Act as a core pillar of the Acceptance CoE, enabling clusters to execute segment strategies at scale.
  • Deliver regular segment‑specific enablement, training and best practice sharing across Europe.
  • Partner closely with Product, VAS, CMS and other cross‑functional teams to scale acceptance and commerce solutions tailored to the segment.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in payments, merchant acquiring, commerce, travel, luxury, retail, entertainment or adjacent digital ecosystems.
  • Proven track record of delivering commercial growth and revenue outcomes in complex, matrixed, multi‑country environments.
  • Strong understanding of the payments value chain, including card acceptance, digital wallets, authentication, e‑commerce and in‑store solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage credibly with senior merchant and acquirer stakeholders and influence without direct authority.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate market insight into clear priorities, scalable sales plays and executable plans.
  • Strong collaboration skills, with experience working across sales, product, partnerships and regional teams.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to simplify complex topics and drive alignment.
  • High level of personal leadership, execution discipline and client centric mindset.
