Job Description

Visa's Technology Organization is a community of problem solvers and innovators reshaping the future of commerce. We operate the world's most sophisticated processing networks capable of handling more than 65k secure transactions a second across 80M merchants, 15k Financial Institutions, and billions of everyday people. While working with us you'll get to work on complex distributed systems and solve massive scale problems centered on new payment flows, business and data solutions, cyber security, and B2C platforms.

We are looking for engineers with an interest in infrastructure storage engineering. You will be an integral part of a global infrastructure team, providing follow the sun support to Visa's systems. This Systems engineer position is within the Storage Operations Team and falls under Global Systems Support. This position will support, certify, and document storage and backup infrastructure, as well as serve as a Level 2 escalation point for existing infrastructure. This position is expected to interact with Systems, Database, Engineering, Asset Management, Product Development, Operations, Audit and Risk, and various groups within Technology. This role must have strong communication and analytical skills.

The Work itself:

  • Responsible for the ongoing maintenance, security, and availability of Storage and SAN infrastructure based on business requirements and adhering to tight operations, security, and procedural models.
  • Responsible for automation of infrastructure tasks to reduce repetitive or time-consuming processes, utilizing SRE principles and practices and an infrastructure as code methodology.
  • Responsible for complex provisioning, advanced maintenance, data replication, disaster recovery, data migration and documentation for our Open Systems Storage and Backup environments.
  • Demonstrate a high level of technical expertise to support complex Storage & Backup devices, including SAN, NAS and Backup solutions across all tiers, under minimal supervision.
  • Be scheduled On-Call to support the infrastructure and our systems. Willingness to work on shift days (Sunday to Thursday or Tuesday to Saturday from 9:00AM to 6:00PM local time).

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager. Visa requires at least 3 days in office, expectations of these days will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A keen interest in learning storage technologies and working in an infrastructure support role.
  • Experience with UNIX (Linux, AIX, Solaris), VMware or other hypervisors, and Windows operating environments.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong inter-personal skills.
  • Strong ability to self-learn new storage technologies.
  • Monitoring, Tuning, Troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
  • Strong organization and analysis skills.
  • Strong focus on quality and customer service.
  • Must be able to multitask and prioritize work.
  • Strong analytical and practical problem-solving skills.

The Skills You Bring:

  • Experience of working in an infrastructure support role and/or a keen interest in learning the role of an infrastructure support engineer in the storage realm.
  • An interest in scripting / coding for infrastructure automation.
