The Risk Manager, CMS is responsible for supporting risk management oversight of the CMS business. A solid foundation of risk management ensures the CMS organisation maintains a strong reputation at the forefront of the payments industry and supports its long-term growth strategy. The Risk Manager will provide second line risk oversight and assurance across the CMS team. The Risk Manager will support, and where appropriate lead, the design and implementation of risk practices that ensure enterprise risks are identified, assessed and managed within Visa's Risk Appetite and Assess 360 (A360) Program. The Risk Manager, CMS Risk will report to the Risk Director, CMS Risk. The role is responsible for managing risk relationships across Visa Direct, Visa Commercial Solutions and Visa Government Solutions globally, as well as with Regulatory, Legal, Compliance and Internal Audit teams. The Risk Manager will also be responsible for strengthening the Second Line of Defense and providing effective oversight and challenge of First Line of Defense risk management. This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership for risk management oversight of selected A360/Product Risk Reviews (PRRs) for the CMS business.
- Support the Risk Director in providing clear, actionable risk advice to senior management, including Heads of Function and other leaders of Visa Direct, VCS and VGS, to ensure key risks are understood and effectively managed.
- Proactively collaborate with Risk colleagues and First Line business teams to identify, assess, manage and mitigate key areas of risk, including strategic, financial, operational, ecosystem, legal and compliance risks, and to meet all A360 Risk Assessment requirements (e.g. Rules, Reputation, PERC).
- Support the deployment and continuous improvement of A360/PRR processes to enable effective monitoring and reporting of risks and conditions related to new product launches and license activation.
- Monitor and evaluate emerging risks across CMS, identify potential mitigation strategies and advise business teams and business risk officers on appropriate actions.
- Facilitate training to enhance CMS-wide risk knowledge and practices, including end-to-end Product Lifecycle Management and the A360 Program.
- Provide second line challenge on strategic initiatives related to data, digital currencies and AI, working closely with a team of product risk experts.
- Deliver Second Line of Defense oversight of strategic direction and new business initiatives, including Visa's Stablecoin and broader digital asset strategy.
- Support the production of regular risk reporting for CMS business risk profiles, ensuring insights are clear, concise and actionable.
- Support the development of a centralised CMS Risk Reporting "command center" - standardise data, improve data availability and reporting, and help create dashboards that support real-time risk decisions.
- Work closely with Risk Business Partners for Visa Direct, VCS and VGS to share relevant insights and influence risk decisions through Risk Profile reporting and A360 risk assessments on new products and initiatives.
- Champion and help embed a strong, transparent risk culture across CMS.

Qualifications
- 4+ years with strong understanding of the payments industry and financial services, including payment products and services.
- Practical knowledge of risk management practices, with experience in identifying, assessing, managing and reporting risk across different risk types.
- Experience producing insightful management information and risk reporting that supports informed executive decision making.
- Knowledge and understanding of relevant regulation and licensing requirements for payments and financial services.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint, with working knowledge of Power BI and Artificial Intelligence tools for analysis and reporting.
- Ability to quickly understand complex and fast-moving topics and distil them into key issues, options and recommended next steps with limited information.
- Experience supporting the design and delivery of training and awareness programs to build general acumen on processes, risks and control standards.
- Hands-on experience using risk management tools and systems (e.g. IBM Open Pages, Archer GRC).
- Blockchain technology / stablecoin and awareness of the broader economic and competitive landscape.
