We are hiring two RTP Scheme Manager roles at Manager level to strengthen resilience and governance for our Real Time Payments (RTP) offering. The two Scheme Managers will work collaboratively, providing mutual support and coverage to maintain continuity in scheme governance and risk management activities. This partnership approach ensures a resilient presence in a critical function for the organisation.
The roles will work with senior leaders to manage external stakeholder relationships (e.g., Pay.UK, regulators, banks), while having a core focus on internal coordination, escalations, rules monitoring and running internal forums.
Scheme Management SupportThe two Scheme Managers will jointly provide critical support to ensure compliance and operational readiness for payment schemes, focusing on internal governance and execution.
Key activities include:- Compliance Monitoring & Reporting
- Track adherence to relevant RTP scheme rules.
- Maintain internal compliance dashboards and escalate breaches or risks promptly.
- Prepare internal reports summarizing scheme performance and compliance status for senior leadership.
- Complete required assurance/attestations for Scheme submissions.
- Operational Readiness & Resilience
- Coordinate internally with relevant operational and technical teams – testing for scheme-related changes, including contingency and disaster recovery exercises.
- Support implementation of scheme updates and ensure operational teams are trained and prepared.
- Validate readiness for new scheme releases or rule changes through structured checklists and sign-offs.
- Maintain a timeline of required scheme report submissions and work with internal subject matter experts to complete.
- Scheme Documentation & Governance
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date scheme documentation, including internal policies, process flows, and compliance evidence.
- Ensure timely dissemination of scheme updates and rule changes to relevant teams.
- Assist in internal governance forums by preparing materials and tracking actions related to scheme compliance.
- Work with Senior Leaders to participate in external scheme forums where required.
- Incident & Issue Management
- Monitor scheme-related incidents and coordinate root cause analysis with operational teams.
- Support remediation plans and ensure lessons learned are documented and embedded into processes.
- Performance Oversight
- Track key scheme metrics (e.g., transaction volumes, SLA adherence, exception rates) and identify trends or anomalies.
- Provide insights to improve operational efficiency and reduce risk exposure.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Strategy, Payment Operations, Risk, Compliance/Regulatory, and Technology teams to ensure alignment with scheme standards.
- Contribute to internal audits and regulatory reporting as required.
This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in the office will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.
Qualifications- Strong understanding of payment systems, scheme rules, and operational processes.
- Experience in rules risk management or compliance monitoring within financial services or payments.
- Proven ability to manage and influence stakeholders across multiple teams.
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail and ability to interpret regulatory requirements.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Professional certifications in risk/Project management or Compliance (desirable).
