The Role

In your role as Senior Microsoft Systems Administrator you will help us achieve our goals and deliver success on behalf of our customers by maintaining and improving Featurespace's on‑prem and Cloud Infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • MS System configuration and support meeting best practice, InfoSec, policy and contractual requirements
  • Systems maintenance, support, monitoring, audit, and reporting
  • Reactive incident‑management, monitoring, and alerting
  • Proactive service improvement projects

This is a hybrid position, with the expectation being 3 days per week in the Cambridge office. Ideally you will live within a commutable distance as this role requires some on‑call and occasional out‑of hours working. Visa requires at least 3 days in office, expectations of these days will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience with Enterprise Microsoft server (2012 > 2025) including its architecture, installation, hardening, troubleshooting, patching and operational maintenance
  • Management & optimisation of AD, Hyper‑V, RDS, Azure, MS365, Teams, Sharepoint, WSO, AWS, MFA, SSO, Conditional Access
  • Backup technologies i.e. Veeam (local, Azure, AWS)
  • Automated OS & Application Patching technologies
  • Enterprise Storage technologies: SAN & NAS (QSAN, DELL)
  • DataCentre monitoring & out-of-band hardware management
  • Automation & scripting; Powershell, Ansible, VB, Python
  • IT Service Management; Incident, Change & Configuration Management
  • Process‑driven ITSM tooling (Jira, ServiceNow or similar)
  • Structured troubleshooting methodologies
  • Third‑party support provider management
  • Authoring clear technical & user‑facing documentation
  • Disaster Recovery scenario‑testing & process improvement

Great To Haves

  • Experience of DevOps / CICD environments
  • LAN / WAN & TCP/IP Networking troubleshooting
  • Other virtualisation platforms such as OpenStack, VMWare etc
  • Exposure working in an audited (PCI DSS or equivalent) environment
  • Familiarity with Linux operating systems
  • Experience matrix‑managing or leading teams through example
  • Experience within a 24x7 support operation
