In your role as Senior Engineering Manager, you will help us achieve our goals and deliver success on behalf of our customers by taking ownership of the development of the Hosted Aric Platform and be responsible for defining the strategic direction of the team, aligning it with the organisations strategy and then delivering on that strategy. Hosted Aric was released 4 years ago and has grown to represent over 80% of Featurespace’s revenue. It continues to grow with 95% of new business being directed at it in the coming year.
This role is expected to include:
- Working with Product and Engineering and other stakeholders to ensure that the Platform is evolving to match the needs of our customers.
- Creating an environment for the team to successfully design, build and deliver important features for Customers both internal and external.
- Constantly improving the Operational Experience for the SRE team, reducing the need for the business to hire more staff as we continue to scale.
- As the Senior Engineering Manager, you will be an initial point of contact for all Hosted Aric related queries from the business and will be expected to work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the platform fulfils all our customers’ needs.

- Creating, Socialising and Delivering on the Platform Engineering Strategy.
- In partnership with leadership developing the Platform growth strategy and growing the Platform Engineering Team to match Featurespace’s needs and goals.
- Creating and Delivering the Hosted Platform Engineering Roadmap.
- Communicating clearly to the wider organization what the team does and how they help make Featurespace successful.
- Developing reporting mechanisms to ensure leadership and key stakeholders are apprised of the team’s state and can react in good time.
- Supporting, coaching and mentoring the Hosted Platform Engineering Team to ensure engineers are productive and growing.
Management:
- Goal Setting: Set clear, measurable goals for team members and align them with the company’s broader objectives.
- Performance Reviews: Conduct regular performance evaluations, providing constructive feedback, and setting performance improvement plans where necessary.
- Hiring: Participate in the recruitment process, including interviewing and selecting candidates that fit both the technical and cultural needs of the team.
- Onboarding: Oversee the onboarding process for new hires, ensuring they integrate smoothly into the team and understand their responsibilities from the start.
- Workload Management: Monitor and manage the team’s workload, ensuring projects are delivered on time without overwhelming individuals.
- Information Flow: Ensure consistent, transparent communication between the team and leadership, relaying strategic direction and key decisions.
- Inclusive Environment: Promote an inclusive working environment by embracing diversity in hiring, team collaboration, and leadership.
This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in the office will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.
Qualifications
- Experience managing geographically distributed or remote teams.
- Naturally curious, innovative and enthusiastic with a capability to think orthogonally.

- High level of attention to detail.
- Experience with containerization (E.g. Docker).
- Experience with orchestration (E.g. Kubernetes).
- Networking expertise (E.g. DNS, routing, firewalls).
- Experience using object oriented design and programming.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (preferably with Terraform).
- Experience with the Software Development Life Cycle.
- Experience operating production services.
- Leadership experience of an engineering or operational team.
- Willingness to share expertise to help grow the people around you.
- Ability to understand complex systems quickly, reason about them, and explain them simply to other people.
- Ability to lead system architecture/design discussions from an engineering, operational and business impact perspective.
- Strong problem solving skills, with a passion to deliver high quality results and motivate others to do the same.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage and prioritize personal and team workloads.
- Expertise in cloud technology (preferably in AWS).
- Experience with Linux.
- Experience programming in one or more high-level programming languages (E.g. Python).
