The Opportunity
VML Enterprise Solutions is growing its technical pre-sales capability to support AWS-led growth across EMEA, with a focus on the UK and Ireland. We are looking for a hands-on technical expert who can prove the value of our AWS solutions through clear demos, high-impact POCs and scalable reference architectures. This role sits between AWS technology and VML delivery, supporting co-sell opportunities by removing technical doubt, proving feasibility and giving clients confidence we can deliver. You will work closely with Alliance Sales, Solution Leads and AWS teams across UKI and EMEA.
The Role
This is a technical pre-sales role focused on AWS co-sell across EMEA. You will lead demos, POCs and solution design, supporting opportunities from early engagement through to close. Success is measured through delivery, including POCs completed, conversion to production, quality of architectures and impact on technical win rates.
What you’ll do
- Technical pre-sales and pursuit support
- Act as the technical lead within account teams across AWS opportunities
- Deliver client-facing demos and lead proof of concept (POC) engagements
- Work closely with AWS Solution Architects and internal stakeholders
- Contribute to RFPs and SOWs by shaping technical content and solution scope
- Lead technical discussions and remove blockers to build client confidence
Architecture and assets
- Create reference architectures for common AWS use cases
- Build reusable demo environments and technical assets
- Document best practice and stay current with AWS services
- Ensure solutions reflect GDPR, UK data residency and EU data sovereignty
Enablement and collaboration
- Support delivery teams with technical guidance
- Share best practice and help build capability across EMEA
- Maintain AWS certifications and work closely with AWS technical teams
Technical focus
You will bring experience across several of the following areas:
- Generative AI and machine learning, including Bedrock and SageMaker
- Data and analytics, including Amazon Marketing Cloud and Clean Rooms
- Customer experience platforms such as Personalize and Connect
- Modern application development using Lambda, Step Functions and APIs
- Integration patterns, including event-driven architecture and microservices
- Data governance, security and regional compliance
What good looks like
- Delivering POCs that convert into production work
- Creating architectures that accelerate pursuits and can be reused
- Bringing credibility into client conversations and improving win rates
Your background
- Experience in technical pre-sales, sales engineering, solution architecture or technical consulting, ideally within a professional services, consultancy, GSI, agency, Big 4 or AWS ProServe-style environment.
- Strong client-facing sales engineering experience, with a track record of leading technical conversations, shaping demos and POCs, and helping convert technical wins into signed engagements.
- Confident contributing to SOWs, RFPs and proposals, including solution narrative, technical assumptions, deliverables and effort framing in support of account teams.
- Hands-on AWS delivery experience, with at least AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate level certification.
- Strong data, AI/ML and analytics expertise, with practical experience designing or delivering data platforms, analytics pipelines and ML/GenAI workloads on AWS.
- Credible as a client and partner-facing technical lead, able to communicate complex ideas clearly to senior stakeholders, account teams and AWS field teams.
- Good understanding of enterprise architecture patterns and how to translate client requirements into practical, scalable technical solutions.
- UK-based with the right to work in the UK and willing to travel across EMEA as required.
Nice to have
- Advanced AWS certifications, such as AWS Solutions Architect Professional or Specialty certifications in Machine Learning, Data Analytics or Security.
- Hands-on experience with Amazon Bedrock, generative AI implementations or broader AI use cases.
- Familiarity with Amazon Marketing Cloud, advertising technology or marketing technology environments.
- Previous experience working for an AWS partner company, directly with AWS, or supporting co-sell motions with AWS UKI and EMEA field teams.
- Understanding of EMEA regulatory and compliance frameworks, including GDPR, DORA and UK data protection.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
- Additional European language capability.
Role positioning
This is a technical expert role focused on enabling co-sell success. It is not a quota-carrying sales role or a post-sale delivery position. You will build the solutions that prove capability and shape the outcome of AWS-led opportunities across EMEA.
