We are seeking a confident, knowledgeable Senior Orthopaedic Veterinary Nurse to join our team at Hamilton Specialist Referrals on a full-time basis.

Excellent clinical care delivered in a friendly and supportive manner to referring vets is paramount to the team.

The hospital is operational 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and offers the most advanced treatment options for orthopaedic, neurology, soft tissue, and internal medicine cases.

We have a dedicated Imaging suite, which includes a 16-slice CT scanner, a 1.5 Tesla MRI, fluoroscopy, and separate radiography and ultrasound rooms.

We have a dedicated team of Specialists, Referral clinicians, RVNs and Support teams.

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Senior Orthopaedic Veterinary Nurse, you will set the standard for excellence within the Orthopaedic Nursing Department, promoting high-quality patient care and clinical best practice.

You’ll work collaboratively with veterinary surgeons and the wider practice team to support excellent patient and client care.

You'll also act as a source of guidance for the nursing team and contribute to maintaining and improving clinical standards, workflows and patient outcomes.

  • Working Pattern
  • * 40 hours per week
  • * 4 days per week working 9.25-hour shifts plus a 30-minute unpaid break
  • * 1:6 weekends working 2 x 9-hour shifts plus an unpaid 30-minute break
  • * Bank holiday cover on a rota (normally 2 shifts a year)
  • General Responsibilities
  • * Coordinate with the workflow coordinator across procedure areas, ensuring efficient service delivery and optimal patient flow
  • * Lead by example, maintaining high standards of nursing care and operational efficiency
  • * Support the Clinical Team Leader (CTL) in the day-to-day leadership and organisation of the nursing team
  • * Mentor and develop team members, identifying training needs and fostering a positive learning culture
  • * Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the department to enhance patient care, team performance, and operational effectiveness
