FanDuel Group is an innovative sports-tech entertainment company that is changing the way consumers engage with their favourite sports, teams, and leagues. The premier gaming destination in the United States, FanDuel consists of a portfolio of leading brands across gaming, sports betting, daily fantasy sports, advance-deposit wagering, and TV/media.

At FanDuel, we give fans a new and innovative way to interact with their favourite games, sports, and teams. We’re dedicated to building a winning team, and we pride ourselves on being able to make every moment mean more, especially when it comes to your career.

As a Senior Engineering Manager, you'll lead teams with a blend of consultants and employees with diverse data engineering backgrounds who build scalable data pipelines to power business intelligence, analytics, fraud detection, and operational reporting across FanDuel. You'll partner with Data Architects, Product Managers, Analytics, and Engineering teams to define technical strategy and drive platform governance.

This role demands both organizational leadership and technical depth; you'll build high-performing teams, own platform reliability and cost, and enable data-driven decision-making through pragmatic problem-solving and operational excellence.

You should have a passion for imparting knowledge and a proven ability to grow a team and lead it to success. You will show a pragmatic approach to problem-solving; your experience should be built on a solid foundation of engineering development and operational support, and you should be able to show a proven background in coaching/people management.

Platform Leadership: Lead design build, and continuous improvement of scalable data pipelines, Lakehouse architectures, and data products on Databricks and AWS infrastructure. Maintain engineering standards for performance, reliability, and cost. Contribute hands-on to architecture reviews, code reviews, and troubleshooting.

Team Management: Manage up to 9 data engineers and 5 consultants—hiring, onboarding, performance reviews, and career development. Build a high-trust culture grounded in psychological safety and continuous learning.

Delivery & Execution: Plan and prioritise the team's work to deliver on-time, on-quality. Balance discovery, platform investment, and run-the-business work. Know which features are essential versus deferrable.

Operational Excellence: Own production health, SLAs, and incident response. Identify and resolve risks, blockers, and cross-team dependencies proactively.

Architecture & Strategy: Resolve data architecture gaps. Align decisions across teams and drive platform coherence. Simplify, optimise, or extend solutions as needed.

What we’re looking for in our next teammate:

  • 10+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Platform, or related data roles.
  • 3+ years leading engineering teams, including coaching, performance management, and organisational development.
  • Deep expertise building scalable data platforms and production-grade data pipelines, and strong experience with Python, Scala, or similar programming languages.
  • Experience working with modern cloud data platforms such as Databricks (preferred), Delta Lake, Snowflake, or BigQuery.
  • Proven experience driving complex cross-functional initiatives from concept through production.
  • Experience leading technical architecture discussions and engineering design reviews.
  • Experience in setting up self-healing and resilient data, and setting up monitoring and alerting using Monte Carlo, PagerDuty and DataDog.
  • Experience managing and delivering multiple projects at the same time is necessary.
  • Excellent people management, communication, presentation and facilitation skills are necessary.

Player Benefits: From our many opportunities for professional development to our generous insurance and paid leave policies, we’re committed to making sure our employees get as much out of FanDuel as we ask them to give. Competitive compensation is just the beginning. As part of our team, you can expect:

  • An exciting and fun environment committed to driving real growth.
  • Opportunities to build really cool products that fans love.
  • Mentorship and professional development resources to help you refine your game.
  • Be well, save well and live well - with FanDuel Total Rewards your benefits are one highlight reel after another.
