Royal Voluntary Service has an opportunity available for a Commercial Finance Manager to join our team, working remotely from within the UK.

You will join us on a Full-time, Permanent basis, and in return, you will receive a salary up to £57,639 per annum, dependant upon experience.

About the Commercial Finance Manager role

The Commercial Finance Manager is responsible for leading Royal Voluntary Service's (RVS) commercial finance, investment appraisal and business partnering activities, ensuring that strategic investment decisions are underpinned by robust financial analysis and deliver maximum value for the organisation.

Reporting to the Head of Finance Business Partnering, the role provides commercial finance leadership across the organisation, partnering closely with Executive Directors and operational leaders to improve financial performance, strengthen investment decision-making and maximise return on investment.

The role will lead Finance Business Partnering for Retail whilst also acting as the organisation's centre of excellence for investment appraisal, pricing strategy, treasury optimisation and commercial financial modelling.

This is a highly visible role requiring strong commercial acumen, analytical capability and the ability to influence strategic decisions across the organisation.

Home based within the UK, with occasional national travel

  • Commercial Business Partnering
  • Partner with Executive Directors and senior leaders to improve financial performance across their portfolios.
  • Provide commercial insight and challenge to support strategic decision-making.
  • Develop trusted relationships with operational leaders.
  • Drive financial accountability across the organisation.
  • Investment Appraisal
  • Lead the development and review of investment business cases across RVS.
  • Establish consistent investment appraisal methodologies and financial hurdle rates.
  • Review and challenge business case assumptions.
  • Support the formal Finance approval for investment business cases before governance approval.
  • Monitor post-investment performance through structured benefits realisation reviews.
  • Retail Finance Business Partnering
  • Act as Finance Business Partner for the Retail portfolio.
  • Analyse site profitability and commercial performance.
  • Support investment decisions for new stores and refurbishments.
  • Develop portfolio performance metrics including gross profit, net profit and ROI.
  • Establish structured monthly performance reviews for underperforming sites.
  • Support turnaround planning and commercial improvement initiatives.
  • Pricing and Commercial Strategy
  • Develop pricing methodologies across commercial activities.
  • Ensure pricing reflects organisational objectives, cost recovery and market conditions.
  • Review pricing models regularly to maximise value and sustainability.
  • Support commercial contract negotiations.

  • Provide commercial financial support to sales activity.
  • Develop financial models supporting bids and proposals.
  • Analyse customer profitability.

  • Treasury and Cash Management
  • Support the CFO in treasury management and cash investment strategy.
  • Analyse cash flows and investment opportunities.
  • Review banking arrangements and investment returns.
  • Provide recommendations to maximise return whilst managing risk.
  • Financial Modelling
  • Develop financial models supporting strategic decisions.
  • Undertake scenario analysis and sensitivity modelling.
  • Support long-term financial planning.
  • Develop commercial forecasting models.
  • Performance Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to improve profitability and financial sustainability.
  • Review commercial performance across income-generating activities.
