Overview
We are looking for an experienced Weekend Model Maker to be responsible for assembly of the models, preparing parts and assemblies in line with our Aerodynamic program, to enhance the development of our F1 race car and liaise with other Model Makers, Model Design, Mechanical Design, Aerodynamicists and the Additive Manufacturing team to provide parts for wind tunnel testing. The role will be based at our wind tunnel facility in Bedford and will include working on shift patterns to meet the demanding needs of the F1 program.
Responsibilities
- Work with the model shop staff and Aerodynamics department to develop wind tunnel models and testing programs.
- Investigate new technologies and concepts for parts and procedures.
- Create and maintain a positive, cohesive work environment to promote growth and progression.
- Communicate effectively with internal groups to ensure parts are tested on time to the highest quality.
- Execute day-to-day tasks with a strong eye for detail and a can-do attitude.
- Manage timelines to ensure timely delivery of high-class models and parts for the dynamic test program.

- Maintain good relationships with all staff and support workers.
- Provide flexible attendance and attitude in line with the roleβs requirements.

Experience needed
- Previous automotive experience is welcome; engineering experience and ideally F1 experience is preferred.
- Strong understanding of high-quality part manufacture and model assembly techniques, including mechanical systems awareness.
- Flexibility to work weekends and adjust to fluctuating demands and schedules as required by project timelines.
- Flexibility to work on shifts and availability to work at the Bedford wind tunnel facility.
- Ability to scope tasks thoroughly with limited assistance and work under pressure, delivering to tight deadlines.
- Willingness to help improve processes and provide timely information and communications.
- Ability to collaborate professionally with colleagues and teams.
