Responsibilities
- Assess surface quality and legality of all group project surface files and feedback as required.
- Develop time‑saving efficiencies within the surface model structures.
- Work with CAD specialists to develop software improvements, including macros, to increase efficiency in the surfacing and model design process.
- Monitor and adjust project specifications to suit varying workload and deadlines.
- Finalise files, including legality checks, of surface to be released to full‑size production and maintain appropriate reference documentation.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior members of the composite design team.
- Act as a cross‑functional point of contact for other relevant departments and engineering disciplines to integrate surface design seamlessly into the overall car design.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains within the surface design team.
- Maintain a professional attitude and promote a positive image for the department, team, and sponsors.
- Keep aero tracking systems up to date and execute day‑to‑day tasks as required.

Qualifications
- Strong degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or similar.
- Solid foundation of engineering principles and their application to engineering problems.
- Experience in CAD systems, preferably in Siemens NX.
- Microsoft Office literate.
- Clear and concise communication.
- Ability to plan and manage own workloads.
- Ability to feedback suggestions for improvements.
- Continual personal development with bias to time and quality efficiencies.
- Initiative and innovation.
- Organised and methodical approach to work with excellent verbal and written communication/presentation skills.
