We are lookingfor a motivated Surface Design Engineer that will be responsible for the generation ofaerodynamic surfaces required to support the aerodynamic development programme.

This includes supporting Aerodynamicists with CAD model creation, maintenance and improvements; and ensuring all surfaces are legal to FIA regulations.

Surface Design

Asses surface quality and legality of all group project surface files and feedback as required.

Develop time saving efficiencies within the surface model structures.

Work with CAD specialists to develop software improvements, including macros, to increase efficiency in the surfacing & model design process.

Monitor and adjust project specifications to suit varying workload and deadlines.

Finalise files, including legality checks, of surface to be released to full size production.

Maintaining appropriate reference documentation.

Guidance and tuition of junior surface designers.

Execute the day-to-day tasks, including keeping aero tracking systems up to date.

Mentorship and Professionalism

Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior members of the composite design team.

Together with other Senior Designers, act as a cross functional point of contact for other relevant departments and other engineering disciplines, to integrate surface design seamlessly into the overall car design.

Work closely with the team to ensure alignment with project goals and deadlines

Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains within the surface design team.

Act as the primary point of contact within the assigned group for technical guidance on tasks assigned to designers.

Provide flexible attendance and attitude to work, both in line with the requirements of the role and any specific requirements of the projects;

To work in a professional manner at all times regardless of the task set and be pro-active in promoting a positive image for the department / team/ sponsors.

Maintain and develop good relationships with colleagues and external suppliers.

Experience

  • Strong degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or similar.
  • Solid foundation of engineering principles and the application of them to engineering problems.
  • Experience in CAD systems, preferably in Siemens NX.
  • Microsoft Office literate.
  • Clear and concise communication.
  • Ability to plan and manage own workloads.
  • Able to feedback suggestions for improvements.
  • Continual personal development with bias to time and quality efficiencies.
  • Initiative and Innovation.
  • An organized and methodical approach to work, excellent verbal and written communication/presentation skills.
  • Team-player attitude and the ability to work under pressure and with minimal supervision.
