Visa Cash App Racing Bulls F1 Team is looking for innovative and motivated students who share our passion for making the race car go faster to join our Aerodynamics, Vehicle Performance and Technology departments. Whatever your STEM background or area of expertise, you’ll have the opportunity to work alongside our experts and contribute to the development and performance of our F1 car. It’s a unique opportunity to put your knowledge into practice, learn to work in a fast-paced environment and build the foundations of your career in F1. This is a 13-months placement opportunity, starting in July 2027 in Milton Keynes (UK). Please be aware that we can provide UK visa sponsorship for this placement, so if you are currently based outside the UK, please don’t let this hold you back from applying. Job Description

  • Aerodynamic Development
    • Analysis of Computational Fluid Dynamic and Wind Tunnel simulations.
    • Deliver concise and insightful reports to colleagues, driving development direction.
    • Produce precise surfaces in CAD.
    • Ensure thorough and experimentally sound test plans are delivered to those in the Wind Tunnel.
    • Improve the efficiency of the CFD throughput.
    • CFD code programming.
    • CFD software benchmarking.
    • Activities to improve CFD correlation with Wind Tunnel and track.
    • Support users with the CFD tools for Aerodynamic Development.
  • Data Science
    • Apply Machine Learning, Statistics, and Computer Science to generate actionable insights that support engineering and performance decisions.
    • Learn from and collaborate with Data Scientists to master best practices, and essential tools.
    • Work alongside talented F1 professionals at the intersection of aerodynamic development, vehicle performance, and strategy to help extract every thousandth of a second from the race car.
    • Drive innovation and efficiency by developing cutting-edge Data Science solutions, while sharing your expertise to enhance the overall organizational capabilities.
    • Develop and enhance strategy simulation tools and software, models, and analysis techniques.
    • Support pre-event, in-event, and post-race analysis reporting, ensuring timely and comprehensive reports.
    • Generate data and statistical analysis to create relevant trackers for strategy and team performance understanding.
    • Support live race strategy and competitor analysis during race events from our Operation Room to optimize race performance.
    • Improve the simulation toolset and related methodologies for car performance prediction, optimization, and analysis.
    • Define robust technical workflows for race events/simulator sessions performance analysis and decision-making process on the allocated topics.
    • Support the daily pre/in/post-event car performance analysis and simulation work.
    • Contribute to race engineering pre-event documentation including lap-time simulation work.
    • Analyze circuit characteristics to support setup decisions.
    • Support simulation data interpretation and post-session analysis to inform engineering decisions.
    • Assist in preparing driving analysis reports, comparing performance metrics across sessions and drivers.
    • Collaborate with race engineers to compile and update technical documentation.
  • Wind Tunnel Operations
    • Development of processes and technologies to aid in the aerodynamic testing of the wind tunnel model.
    • Use, maintain and develop model instrumentation and electromechanical systems.
    • Analysis of wind tunnel system data to push continuous improvement and fault resolution.
    • Aid in the process development of the PIV (Particle Image Velimetry) system and data.
    • Involvement in hands-on R&D activities to further the teams understanding of aerodynamic testing.
    • Maintenance, analysis and development of Wind Tunnel Tyres.
  • Software Engineering
    • Explore internship opportunities across Software Engineering, DevOps and Quality Assurance, developing expertise in the discipline that best matches your skills and interests while contributing to world-class engineering tools.
    • Design and develop cutting-edge applications that enable engineers to analyse, design and optimise F1 car performance, using modern technologies and innovative data visualisation techniques.
    • Write high-quality, well-documented code in C#, TypeScript, React and Python, helping to build and maintain the next generation of analysis and simulation tools that give the team a competitive edge.
    • Collaborate with colleagues across Technology to enhance data-processing pipelines and optimise application performance and reliability, supporting critical race car development timelines.
    • Develop and improve CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation and DevOps practices, enabling critical updates to be deployed rapidly and confidently while maintaining the reliability demanded by race operations.
    • Champion quality throughout the development lifecycle by identifying opportunities to improve testability, automation, tooling and engineering practices.
  • Aerodynamic Surfacing
    • Create robust parametric CAD surface models based on requests from Aerodynamic Designers.
    • Develop improved methods to surface complex areas.
    • Check and confirm surfaces comply with the sport’s technical regulations.
    • Assist with preparation of transferring surfaces from design to the race car.
    • Preparing surfaces for CFD submission.
    • Create robust parametric CAD models, using both surface and solid body reference geometry, ready for manufacture of Wind Tunnel model components.
    • Generate component and assembly drawings that include clear and concise manufacturing tolerances and assembly process requirements.
    • Optimise component designs around packaging constraints and their characteristics under load.
    • Complete FEA simulations on components to be tested in the Wind Tunnel.
    • Conduct lab tests to confirm design intent.
    • Take on larger scale design projects as part of a small team.
  • Mechanical Design
    • Work within a small, multi-disciplinary team to design mechanical systems for wind tunnel applications.
    • Create robust parametric CAD models (surface and solid geometry) for integration into Wind Tunnel model components.
    • Generate component and assembly drawings with clear and concise communication of tolerances and assembly processes.
    • Optimise component designs to meet performance requirements and packaging constraints.
    • Complete FEA and modal analysis simulations on components destined for the Wind Tunnel.
    • Carry out hands-on R&D activities to prove out designs and support innovation within the team.
    • Dive into CFD and wind tunnel simulations, comparing them with real-world track data to improve vehicle modelling accuracy.
    • Collaborate with engineers to level up our data analysis and modelling techniques.
    • Build smart tools that make complex data crystal clear.
    • Apply data science techniques and stats to decode aerodynamic performance.
  • Wind Tunnel Electronics
    • The Wind Tunnel Electronics Engineer Intern will support the Electronics department within Wind Tunnel Engineering in the development, maintenance and optimisation of the electronic systems used within aerodynamic testing and on the wind tunnel model.
    • Design and manufacture of electronics and wiring looms for use within our aerodynamic testing and support activities.
    • Support the creating of wiring loom drawings for in house/supplier manufacturing.
    • Analysis of wind tunnel system data to push continuous improvement and fault resolution.
    • Carry out hands-on R&D activities to prove out designs and support technology development within the team.
    • Support the evaluation and calibration of sensors for use within the wind tunnel and the R&D facility.

Qualifications

  • Be at least 1 year into your undergraduate degree.
