Building our AI capability

AI is creating new opportunities for businesses to work smarter, move faster, and unlock greater value from their data.

We're investing in the capability, people, and expertise needed to help our customers turn that potential into real-world results.

Our AI Practice designs and delivers practical solutions using Microsoft's AI, data, and cloud platforms.

From AI agents and advanced analytics to Copilot-powered experiences, we help organisations solve meaningful business challenges while maintaining the security, governance, and control they expect.

This is a chance to join at an exciting stage of growth.

As part of a small, high-impact team, you'll help define how we deliver AI solutions, influence our technical direction, and play a key role in establishing a capability that will shape the future of Virtuoso and our customers.

About the role

We’re looking for a hands-on Software Engineer to create AI-powered products, agentic applications, and integrations across Azure and Microsoft 365.

You’ll contribute across a broad technical brief spanning software engineering, data engineering, and solution architecture.

You’ll take ownership throughout the solution lifecycle, from discovery and design through to build, optimisation, deployment, and continual improvement.

AI will be part of both what you build and how you work, using coding agents to accelerate delivery while applying sound judgement about where AI adds genuine value.

Just as importantly, you’ll work directly with customers to understand how their businesses operate, uncover the challenges worth solving, and shape practical solutions alongside them.

You’ll combine technical depth with strong communication skills, building trusted relationships and delivering outcomes that make a meaningful difference.£45,000-£55,000

What you will be doing

This role combines engineering excellence, customer engagement, and AI innovation.

The sections below outline the technologies, capabilities, and ways of working that help us deliver practical solutions and measurable business outcomes.

  • Ability to design and implement secure, scalable, cloud-native solutions with a focus on identity, automation, and business productivity.
  • Confident using Git Hub and Azure Dev Ops for collaborative development, source control, CI/CD, and solution lifecycle management.

How to prepare for a job interview at Virtuoso

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If Virtuoso uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

Showcase Your Projects

Bring along a portfolio that highlights our best work. This could be code samples, GitHub repositories, or any side projects we’ve built. Make sure we can talk through our thought process for each project, especially the challenges we faced and how we solved them—this shows our problem-solving skills in action.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
