About the Role
Our client in the UK is looking for an innovative and analytical LLM / Answer Engine Optimisation (AEO) Manager to lead their strategy for ensuring their products and brand surface in responses generated by major AI platforms and answer engines. This role sits at the cutting edge of search and discovery, blending LLM optimisation, structured content strategy, and traditional SEO principles to influence how AI systems retrieve, interpret, and present information. You’ll define the strategy, work with external partners, and translate complex AI and search concepts into clear business actions that drive measurable visibility and growth.
Key Responsibilities
- LLM & Answer Engine Strategy
- Lead the strategy to improve brand and product visibility across major LLM-powered platforms and AI answer engines in the UK and US markets.
- Identify high-value prompts, topics, and user intents where presence in AI-generated answers matters most.
- Develop frameworks for optimising content to be discoverable, citable, and retrievable by LLMs.
- Answer Engine Optimisation (AEO)
- Apply structured content, schema, entity optimisation, and knowledge graph principles to improve answer engine visibility.
- Work closely with content, product, and marketing teams to ensure information is accurate, structured, and AI-friendly.
- SEO Integration
- Leverage strong knowledge of traditional SEO (technical, on-page, and authority signals) to support broader discoverability.
- Align LLM optimisation efforts with existing organic search strategies.
- Agency & Stakeholder Management
- Lead and manage relationships with external SEO/AEO/AI optimisation agencies and consultants.
- Set clear objectives, KPIs, and deliverables for partners and ensure high-quality execution.
- Act as the internal subject matter expert, translating complex technical concepts into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
- Performance & Reporting
- Define success metrics for LLM and answer engine visibility.
- Set realistic, data-backed targets and roadmaps.
- Track performance, test approaches, and iterate based on insights and emerging platform changes.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of LLMs, answer engines, and how AI systems retrieve and generate responses.
- Solid grounding in traditional SEO theory and best practices.
- Experience developing and executing optimisation strategies in emerging or fast-changing digital channels.
- Proven experience working with and leading external agencies or specialist partners.
- Excellent communication skills, able to explain complex AI and search concepts to non-experts.
- Highly proactive self-starter who can set data-backed goals and deliver measurable results.
- Analytical mindset with a strong focus on performance and experimentation.
