Solutions Architect needed for a global leader in energy, supplying LNG, refined products and biofuels to customers worldwide, is seeking an experienced Solutions Architect to support a major IT transformation and digitalisation programme. As LNG, biofuels, and alternative fuel products continue to grow within the portfolio, scalable and well-designed solutions architecture is critical to supporting the business, actively supporting the industry’s journey to net zero by 2050.
This is a newly created Solutions Architect role, introduced as part of a long-term five-year technology roadmap led by the CTO. With a 600-strong global workforce and continued expansion of both physical supply operations and product offerings, this position will act as a key partner to the CTO, shaping how software systems, applications, and data flows are designed and integrated across the business.
The Solutions Architect Role:
The Solutions Architect will focus on solution-level architecture, designing how systems and applications fit together to support trading, operations, and commercial teams. The role centres on understanding data flow, system integrations, and how off-the-shelf platforms and bespoke in-house systems work together. A key focus will be shaping and guiding architecture across CTRM platforms, trading systems (including ETRM), and internally developed applications. You will assess where data should reside, how systems should integrate, and what functionality should be configured versus built in-house, playing a direct role in defining the future technology landscape.
This role is ideally suited to someone who has progressed from a software engineering or developer background into solution architecture, with a strong understanding of how code, databases, and applications interact. You will work closely with developers and delivery teams, translating business requirements into clear, scalable technical designs. As part of a wider transformation, you will contribute to new system builds, platform upgrades, and consolidation initiatives, including a major ETRM upgrade and consolidation driven by business growth and the introduction of additional products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as lead Solutions Architect across core trading and operational platforms
- Design and document end-to-end solution architectures and data flows
- Support the CTO in delivering a five-year technology transformation roadmap
- Shape architectural decisions across CTRM, ETRM and bespoke systems
- Guide buy vs build decisions and integration approaches
- Translate business requirements into robust technical designs
- Work closely with developers and delivery teams to ensure architectural alignment
- Champion best practices in solution design, scalability and resilience
- Ensure solutions meet security, data governance and regulatory requirements
Skills & Experience:
- Good knowledge of an Enterprise Architecture model, ideally TOGAF
- Proven experience in a Solutions Architect role
- Background in software engineering or development
- Strong understanding of system integration, APIs and data flows
- Experience working with off-the-shelf platforms (e.g. CRM, ETRM) and bespoke systems
- Exposure to ETRM platforms
- Experience within energy, commodities trading, oil & gas
