A Software Developer (C# .

NET) is required to join the Data team of a leading global energy trading house, working on business-critical data platforms that sit at the heart of a data-driven energy trading business.

This is a full stack C# .

NET development role with strong emphasis on C#, .

NET, and modern engineering practices.

You'll deliver functionality from requirements analysis through to implementation, testing and deployment, working closely with senior engineers and architects on solution design.

This energy trading business is transitioning into a data-driven organisation, with a leading footprint across the European energy trading markets.

The Data team provides business solutions that extract value from large volumes of data spanning market data collection, real-time data streams, data governance and machine learning.

The Team

The Data team sits at the centre of this energy trading business's data strategy, responsible for:

  • Business solutions that extract value from large-scale data
  • Collection of market data and related analysis tooling
  • Data governance and machine learning initiatives

You’ll join as part of the C# . NET software development team, working alongside senior engineers and architects, with plenty of scope to grow your technical capability.

As a Software Developer, you will

  • Develop and maintain data-oriented systems as part of the C# . NET software development team
  • Deliver functionality from requirements analysis through implementation, testing and deployment
  • Participate in Agile development processes and ceremonies as part of ongoing delivery
  • Collaborate with senior engineers and architects on solution design and technical implementation
  • Produce high-quality, maintainable and well-tested code following engineering best practices
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute constructive feedback to peers
  • Work with business users and analysts to clarify requirements and support successful delivery
  • Collaborate with the data support team to ensure platform stability, monitoring and timely incident resolution
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes, tools and engineering practices
  • Required Experience
  • Good understanding of software engineering principles and modern development practices
  • Experience with containerisation technologies such as Docker
  • Experience working with relational databases such as SQL Server, Postgre SQL or Oracle
  • Understanding of development practices including unit/integration testing, Dependency Injection (Io C), SOLID principles, and application logging/monitoring/observability
  • Experience working with data-intensive applications involving large volumes of data or real-time processing
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and work collaboratively within a development team
  • Nice to Have
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes
  • Experience working within Agile development teams (Scrum preferred)
  • Familiarity with Azure Dev Ops (or similar tools) for source control, build pipelines and work management
  • Exposure to non-relational database technologies such as Click House or Mongo DB
  • Basic understanding of Kubernetes and container orchestration concepts
  • Exposure to Infrastructure as Code technologies such as Terraform
  • Experience or familiarity with Kafka, Azure Service Bus, or similar messaging technologies
