A leading global financial services organisation, operating across commodities and capital markets, is looking to hire a DataOps Architect to play a key role in shaping and scaling its enterprise data platform. This is a greenfield opportunity within a growing Data & AI function, focused on building out a modern DataOps capability to support advanced analytics, real-time reporting, and AI-driven solutions. The organisation has significant market presence across exchange and OTC trading, and is investing heavily in its data estate to drive better insights, client outcomes, and operational efficiency.

As a DataOps Architect, you will be responsible for defining and embedding a DataOps way of working across the business. The role will focus on enabling the reliable, automated, and scalable delivery of data and machine learning pipelines, supporting everything from core reporting and systems integration through to customer-facing AI use cases. You will work closely with Data Engineering, ML Engineering, and Analytics teams, acting as both a hands-on technical leader and strategic enabler.

You will design and implement CI/CD pipelines for data and ML workloads, ensuring controlled promotion across environments, while embedding best practices across software engineering, testing, and release management. The role will also involve defining data quality, observability, and reliability frameworks aligned to modern architectures such as Medallion (Bronze, Silver, Gold), as well as building reusable tooling, templates, and standards to drive consistency across the platform. A key part of the role will be partnering with governance, risk, and compliance teams to translate regulatory requirements into scalable engineering patterns, ensuring robust controls without slowing delivery. You will also play a central role in improving production readiness, release governance, and post-incident processes, helping to drive a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Key requirements:

  • Strong experience implementing DataOps or DevOps practices within complex data environments
  • Proven track record designing and operating CI/CD pipelines for data and analytics workloads
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks (AWS and/or Azure) in production
  • Strong programming skills in Python and SQL
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform)
  • Deep understanding of data reliability, observability, and data quality frameworks
  • Strong grounding in software engineering best practices and SDLC
  • Ability to operate both hands-on and at a strategic level
  • Experience working in regulated environments (financial services preferred)

Nice to have:

  • Experience with orchestration tools such as Airflow or Azure Data Factory
  • Exposure to dbt or similar transformation frameworks
  • Experience supporting ML pipelines and lifecycle management
  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps, Git-based workflows, and modern developer tooling
  • Background in commodities or derivatives trading environments
