A C# .NET Developer is required to join the Trading Risk Management Centre of Excellence at one of the UK’s largest and most established energy businesses, operating across nuclear, renewables, battery storage and customer markets. This is a rare opportunity to work at the intersection of technology and energy trading sitting within a back-office Centre of Excellence that interacts directly with front-office teams including curve trading and ship trading desks. You’ll work on the systems that enable trading across a large and complex energy portfolio, from generation through to customer delivery, with excess traded across wholesale markets.
The business operates at significant scale across the full energy value chain, and the C# .NET engineering function is central to enabling that. The team works across a landscape of off-the-shelf trading systems and bespoke integrations, and is on a long-term journey toward a SaaS model giving you exposure to both the current landscape and the future architecture. They’re open to developers still building experience if you bring strong foundations, the right mindset and a willingness to learn the domain; this team will support your growth.
The Team
You’ll join a small, focused C# .NET team within the Trading Risk Management CoE, working alongside Business Analysts, Software Engineers and external specialists. The team is responsible for:
- Designing, building and improving C# .NET components that integrate with and extend off-the-shelf trading platforms
- Building and maintaining C# .NET integrations across trading systems and data sources
- Enabling front-office trading through reliable, scalable back-office technology
- Supporting the business on its longer-term journey toward a SaaS-based architecture

Fully Remote
As a C# .NET Developer, you will:
- Design, develop and improve C# .NET components and integrations across off-the-shelf trading and risk systems
- Translate business requirements from trading stakeholders into scalable technical solutions
- Build and maintain C# .NET integrations supporting live trading operations
- Work closely with front-office teams including curve trading and ship trading desks
- Support live systems debugging, monitoring and continuous improvement
- Contribute to the longer-term architectural evolution toward SaaS
- Collaborate with BAs, architects and external system specialists
Required Experience
- Commercial experience in C# .NET development
- SQL exposure writing and optimising queries across large datasets
- Experience integrating or working with off-the-shelf software platforms
- Exposure to cloud computing, ideally AWS
- Strong analytical mindset comfortable working with data and translating business needs
- Collaborative and communicative across technical and business stakeholders
- Comfortable working in a data-intensive, operationally critical environment
Desirable Experience
- Integrating or extending off-the-shelf trading or risk platforms
- Understanding of energy market structure generation, route-to-market, wholesale trading
- Event-driven architecture in C# .NET
- Oracle database experience
- React Native or CI/CD exposure
- Python in a data or engineering context
- Supporting live trading or operational systems
- Exposure to FIS Align, Allegro or similar ETRM platforms
