A Python Developer with strong core engineering skills is required by a leading Trading House institution to support the front office teams in the business. This Python Desk Developer will be working directly on the trading desk, embedded with traders, building tools that influence real-time decision-making as the firm looks to scale aggressively into new energy markets.
You’ll be working in a fast-paced environment helping Quants, Traders and Technology teams to deliver scalable trading services. This role offers the chance to influence architectural decisions and contribute to modernising core platforms used across trading. The desk is looking for someone who can translate market problems into clean, reliable, production-ready Python with direct impact on P&L.
This Python Developer will gain a high level of business exposure. You’re shaping how the desk thinks about storage optimisation, pre-trade analytics, and forecasting.
- Paying up to £800 (Inside IR35)
- Hybrid – 2 days on-site (London)
- 6-month rolling contract (Multi-year)
Key Responsibilities:
- Engineering high-quality backend services using core Python, developing software from scratch rather than simple scripting (experience with OOP is important)
- Working closely with Front Office teams to gather requirements and deliver robust, well-architected solutions
- Azure knowledge is a big plus
- Solid communication skills - able to work closely with technical and non-technical stakeholders
This Python developer will be using the full Python ecosystem: NumPy, pandas, SciPy, Plotly, FastAPI, but the desk expects you to go beyond the textbook stack. When latency becomes a bottleneck, you’ll reach for async IO, Cython, shell scripting, or whatever unconventional solution gets the job done.
If you are interested in this Python role with strong Front Office experience, please reply with your latest CV or send to sam@virtuetech.io.
