An experienced AI exposed engineer is needed for an established Asset Management giant who are at the beginning of a major enterprise wide AI journey. It does not matter if you were an AI Architect, Forward Deployed Engineer or AI Engineering Lead, as long as you can showcase understanding of AI systems and how they are deployed on a wider scale especially from a leadership perspective as this is a greenfield AI leadership role.

The business has already invested in AI and currently has teams across the group working on multiple parts of AI assisted development, however, what they currently require is someone who can come in with financial services knowledge to sit with the CTO and understand how to put it all together. The key question for this hire is: “How do we use AI across the enterprise and, more importantly, how do we actually execute it?”

Despite the role requiring heavy business and stakeholder communication, it is still requiring someone who has an engineering background so they can understand the whole end to end process of development, what should be prioritised by different teams across the group and also what parts of the business can benefit from the AI. This is why the successful person needs to be senior, whilst still being highly technical and hands-on. You will have the opportunity to lead the AI function, establish the technical direction and work directly with the business to identify where AI can deliver genuine value.

What Experience Matters:

  • AI + Compliance - This is a highly regulated Financial Services environment, so understanding how to deploy AI responsibly will be critical. The company already has an internal AI policy which you will need to work within. You therefore need to understand not simply what AI can do, but how AI can be implemented within a regulated enterprise environment where security, compliance, data governance and confidentiality are fundamental.
  • Financial Services exposure is a must have.
  • Engineering experience - can be from any sort of engineering background but it is probably expected that Python might feature more.

What They Need:

  • Senior AI Engineering experience within a financial services environment.
  • Strong hands-on engineering capability - despite being strategic, you need to understand how engineering works.
  • Experience with LLMs, Generative AI and/or autonomous AI agents.
  • Experience integrating AI with enterprise data and business systems.
  • Experience identifying and delivering practical AI use cases.
  • Ability to explain complex AI concepts to senior business stakeholders.
  • Experience building or shaping AI engineering teams.
  • Strong understanding of AI governance, data security and compliance.
  • A track record of solving genuine business problems through AI.

Package:

  • Permanent: Up to £130k + Bonus + Benefits.
  • Hybrid: 3 Days a Week Hybrid, London.

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines.
