Business Analyst – Commodities Trading House | Physical Commodities (LNG, Coal, Freight, Oil) | £700-800/Day Inside IR35 | 3 days office, Ldn
Commodities & Energy Trading House are going through a technology landscape transformation. As such, a big project is removing their Valuations and PnL portfolio out of their current ETRM and transferring the data to a brand new, bespoke ETRM that can facilitate the trades of Physical Commodities (LNG, Coal, Freight, Oil).
The work will be focussed on improving and changing the Energy Trading and Risk Management (ETRM) applications that make up the Trading House systems landscape. You will work with users from across the business and cover functionality across the end-to-end trade lifecycle for physical LNG, Coal and Freight , as well as commodity derivatives and FX/IR.
As such, business knowledge around Physical Commodities is critical for this role.
As a Business Analyst, you will work with both front office and middle office users, with direct desk access on the trading floor, gaining exposure across end-to-end trade lifecycle for physical LNG, Coal & Freight.
As a Business Analyst, you will be required to perform extensive hands-on work in the current ETRM, understanding the Physical Commodities lifecycle and the data needed from both front and middle office, in order to develop extensive system and app knowledge of the different trades. As a Physical Commodities Business Analyst, you will be required to be proactive in engaging with users and working with them in a collaborative and open manner. You must take ownership of creating structured documentation (e.g. backlogs of user stories) and be able to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical individuals
Day rate: Up to £800/Day Inside IR35,
Location of work: Hybrid. 3 days from the office , based in Euston Square, Ldn
Duties of the Physical Commodities Business Analyst
- Working with the users to identify their needs
- Creating worked examples, mock-ups, test cases or similar to help users understand their requirements and potential solution options
- Performing hands-on system or data analysis to identify changes (e.g. to usage, to configuration or to class-event)
Experience needed for the Business Analyst role
· 5 years’ experience as an IT Business Analyst focussed on ETRM systems
· Commodities Trading experience (preferably including physical LNG, Coal, Freight or Oil)
· Extensive experience working with an ETRM application
· Front / middle office knowledge; pricing and valuation (P&L, risk exposure, etc.)
