About Virtue Vets: Virtue Vets is a modern London veterinary group bringing hospital-quality, advanced vetcare into the neighbourhood — within a 10-minute journey of pet owners’ doorsteps. We currently operate four clinics across Marylebone, Brompton Cross, The Boltons (Chelsea) and Notting Hill, with additional London sites in the pipeline.
Our clinics are full-service, performing in-house imaging, soft-tissue and orthopaedic surgery, dentistry, and integrated physiotherapy and hydrotherapy. Premium fit, calm design, and clinical-grade specification are central to the brand.
The role: We are hiring a Construction & Facilities Manager to own the physical estate end-to-end — both the build-out of new clinics and the day-to-day running of existing sites. You will report into the leadership team and carry full responsibility for programme, cost and quality across the portfolio. This is a hands-on, client-side role. You will run fitout projects from acquisition support through to handover, then keep those clinics operating reliably afterwards. Expect a mix of new-site fitouts (typically 1,500–4,000 sq ft units in prime central London locations), refurbishment of existing clinics, equipment installations, and live-environment maintenance across a small but growing portfolio.
What you’ll be responsible for:
- New clinic delivery (CAPEX projects)
- Owning fitout projects from brief to handover across all London sites.
- Managing external design teams, principal contractors, sub-trades and specialist installers.
- Building project budgets, running tenders, negotiating contracts, and controlling cost against CAPEX targets.
- Driving programme aggressively — these are tight, commercial fitouts where every week of delay is real money.
- Coordinating veterinary equipment vendors (imaging, dental, surgical, lab, kennelling) and integrating their installation into the build sequence.
- Managing logistics, storage, shipping and receiving of FF&E and clinical equipment.
- Ensuring full compliance with landlord requirements, building regs, planning conditions, fire and DDA standards.
- Estate and facilities management (live clinics)
- Owning planned preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance across the portfolio.
- Managing service contracts (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, cleaning, waste, pest, fire, security).
- Maintaining mission- and life-critical clinical installations (imaging plant, autoclaves, anaesthetic gas systems, oxygen, water purity).
- Keeping a tight asset register and predictable maintenance calendar.
- Acting as primary point of contact for landlords on lease, dilapidations and consents.
- Procurement and commercial
- Sourcing and procuring construction materials, FF&E, hard assets and small plant.
- Driving cost reduction through better sourcing, contract terms and vendor management.
- Running the day-to-day with a sharp eye on spend versus budget.
Who we’re looking for: You are likely a Chartered Construction Manager / Project Manager (MCIOB, MAPM, MRICS or equivalent) with a track record of delivering fitout projects in live, commercial or hospitality-style environments. We are open on background — what matters is the shape of the experience, not the exact sector.
Strongly relevant experience:
- Shop fitouts and fitout rollouts for hospitality, retail, F&B, dental, medical, wellness or co-working operators.
- Multi-site portfolio delivery — running several projects in parallel rather than one large scheme.
- Refurbishment of operational assets (hotels, schools, clinics, offices) where the building stays live.
- Client-side or developer-side roles carrying full CAPEX and programme responsibility.
- Post-completion FM and PPM oversight across an operational portfolio.
Less relevant:
- Pure new-build residential, large commercial or public-sector construction.
- Civil or mechanical engineering backgrounds without a fitout track record.
You’ll do well here if you are:
- Energetic, pragmatic and run a tight ship.
- A natural problem-solver who builds cross-functional teams and drives a proactive, risk-focused culture.
- Cost-conscious by instinct — you treat the budget as if it were your own money.
- Comfortable being on-site, walking the job, and removing roadblocks in real time.
- Strong on prioritisation across competing projects and clinics.
- Excellent at written and verbal communication with leadership, contractors and clinical teams.
- Fluent in standard office tools (Word, Excel, email, WhatsApp) and any reasonable asset management or project tracking software.
Logistics: Location: London — on-site across our four clinics (Marylebone, Brompton Cross, The Boltons, Notting Hill), with regular travel between them. New sites will be added during 2026.
Right to work: You must already have the right to work in the UK. We are not in a position to sponsor visas for this role.
Driving licence: Useful but not essential given the central London footprint.
If this sounds like you, please apply with your CV and a short note on the most relevant fitout or multi-site project you’ve delivered.
