VirtualResource (VR) is a boutique consultancy supporting companies to optimise their HR systems and Workday. We strive to be the go-to company that partners with businesses to optimise their HR technology landscape.

Our people are our most important asset. We recognise the need for a committed, skilled and loyal team and strive to create a working environment that is flexible, caring and considerate of all needs. We attract the best people and reward them appropriately. Staff development and upskilling are core to what we do.

We are seeking a Senior Workday Integrations Consultant with deep, hands‐on integration expertise to lead the design, delivery, and governance of complex Workday integration solutions. In this role, you will act as a technical authority and trusted advisor, ensuring our clients leverage best‐in‐class integration architectures aligned to their broader HR and enterprise technology landscapes. You will take ownership of integration workstreams across multiple projects, provide technical leadership to integration teams, and partner closely with clients, internal stakeholders, and sales teams to deliver scalable, high‐quality solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the end‐to‐end design, build, testing, and deployment of complex Workday integration solutions.
  • Act as the primary technical integration lead for client implementations, both existing and new.
  • Define and own integration architecture, standards, and best practices across projects.
  • Manage and track integration risks, issues, and dependencies; proactively escalate where required.
  • Provide strategic guidance to clients and service partners on integration approaches and roadmaps.
  • Oversee and manage all integration deliverables associated with implementation projects.
  • Facilitate advanced troubleshooting and collaborate closely with cross‐functional internal teams.
  • Lead, mentor, and coach junior and mid‐level integration consultants across multiple projects.
  • Support the pre‐sales cycle, including integration scoping, effort estimation, and solution design.
  • Produce detailed interface specifications, field mappings, and system/process designs.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive test strategies, including scenario testing and validation.
  • Manage partner integrations, including setup, analysis, validation, and ongoing data exchanges.
  • Coordinate cross‐functional implementation activities, contributing to project planning, scope definition, and delivery governance.

Only experienced Workday consultants to apply please. As a VR consultant, you will have the flexibility to manage your own day, as long as you meet your set objectives and client demands. Often your team will be a mix of on‐site and remote based members who will connect using IM, video calls and an online ticketing system. Good communication skills and time management is essential for this role.

What skills are we looking for?

Our roles are remotely based (even pre‐Covid), meaning you will be working from your home office, connecting with your client and team on a daily basis. To be successful in this type of environment, you will need to have the ability to communicate effectively (in English) with cross‐functional teams, explain complex concepts in easy, understandable terms, align HR / business knowledge with Workday functionality, and proactively drive process improvements. You will need to be comfortable with video calls and be proactive in communication channels open with your client and team.

Must have Skills Required:
  • 5+ years of Workday Integrations experience, including leading complex implementations.
  • 5+ years of combined experience designing and delivering enterprise technical solutions.
  • Strong experience with modern integration technologies, including: EDI, Web Services, XML, XSLT, REST/SOAP APIs, Middleware platforms, Java and/or .NET.
  • Proven experience leading integration design and process alignment across stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, develop, and deploy production‐grade integrations.
  • Strong understanding of ERP systems, data models, and enterprise architecture concepts.
  • Experience working across multiple cross‐functional teams, including business and technical stakeholders.
  • Highly developed analytical, problem‐solving, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with tools such as Excel, Visio, MS Project (or equivalent), and PowerPoint.
  • Workday Integration Certification.
Other Qualifications/Skills that will be beneficial but not mandatory:
  • Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, HR, or related discipline.
  • Experience with Workday Extend.
  • Project or delivery certifications (e.g., PMP, Agile/Scrum).
  • Background in one or more of the following: Java, JavaScript, .NET, XSLT, NetBeans or similar IDEs.

How to prepare for a job interview at virtualresource

Know Your Workday Inside Out

Make sure you brush up on your Workday knowledge, especially around integrations. Be prepared to discuss specific projects you've worked on, the challenges you faced, and how you overcame them. This will show that you not only understand the technical aspects but also have hands-on experience.

Showcase Your Communication Skills

Since this role involves working with cross-functional teams and clients, practice explaining complex integration concepts in simple terms. You might be asked to demonstrate how you would communicate a technical solution to a non-technical audience, so think of examples where you've done this successfully.

Prepare for Scenario-Based Questions

Expect questions that require you to think on your feet. Prepare for scenario-based questions where you might need to outline how you would handle integration risks or troubleshoot issues. Use the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to structure your answers effectively.

Demonstrate Leadership and Mentorship

As a Senior Integrations Consultant, you'll be expected to lead and mentor others. Be ready to share your experiences in guiding junior consultants or leading teams. Highlight any specific instances where your leadership made a difference in project outcomes.
