About the Role
We are seeking a reliable and proactive Market Attendant to support the daily operations of Darwen Market. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who enjoys working in a public-facing environment, takes pride in maintaining clean and safe spaces, and can confidently assist traders and visitors throughout the day.
Key Responsibilities
- Cleaning & Maintenance
- Clean floors, surfaces, windows, public and trader toilets.
- Operate cleaning machinery, including scrubbing/sweeping machines, high-pressure washers, and occasionally platform lifts.
- Maintain cleanliness in busy areas such as the Food Court, including clearing tables and routine sweeping/mopping.
- Carry out basic labouring and general upkeep tasks around the market.
- Waste Management
- Collect and manage market waste, including use of waste compaction equipment.
- Separate materials for recycling and use relevant lifting/mechanical equipment.
- Customer & Trader Support
- Act as a first point of contact for traders and visitors.
