Job Summary
KL Talent Solutions is recruiting on behalf of a leading logistics and distribution business for an experienced Traffic Operator to join their growing transport team.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established business with a nationwide operation where you'll play a key role in keeping transport running safely, efficiently and compliantly.
The Role
As a Traffic Operator, you'll support the day‑to‑day running of the regional transport operation, ensuring vehicles, drivers and depot activities are managed effectively.
Your responsibilities will include
- Supporting the daily planning and coordination of transport operations.
- Managing driver briefings and debriefings.
- Acting as the main point of contact for regional drivers and central support teams.
- Coordinating vehicle maintenance and ensuring fleet compliance.
- Managing vehicle defects and arranging repairs in line with legal requirements.
- Handling transport office enquiries, including vehicle breakdowns and driver support.
- Assisting with transport planning and scheduling.
- Ensuring compliance with all transport legislation, company procedures and Health & Safety standards.
- Producing operational reports and supporting continuous improvement.
- Providing support as part of an on‑call rota when required.
About You
We're looking for someone who has previous experience within a busy transport or logistics operation and enjoys working in a fast‑paced environment.
Ideally you'll have
- Previous experience as a Traffic Operator, Transport Planner or within a transport office.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- The ability to prioritise workloads and work under pressure.
- Strong IT skills and confidence using transport management systems.
- A good understanding of transport legislation and compliance.
- The ability to build strong relationships with drivers and internal stakeholders.
- Experience producing reports and analysing operational data.
- A CPC in Transport Management and a Level 3 ILM or CMI qualification would be advantageous but are not essential.
- Experience within liquid fuel distribution or a similar transport environment would also be highly desirable.
