We are looking for a highly skilled, compassionate and resilient Complex Support Worker to provide dedicated one-to-one support for a young child with autism and significant communication, social interaction and developmental needs. This is a highly active, hands-on role that requires patience, consistency, and a calm, emotionally attuned approach. The child benefits most from predictable, supportive adults who can follow their lead, build trust, and gently encourage communication, learning and independence over time. You will be working closely within a family home environment alongside parents, siblings, and the family dog. Support will also include community outings, days out, and one-to-one assistance at appointments. The family live in Taunton.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide consistent 1:1 support at home and in the community
- Use visual supports, gestures, modelling, and simple language to support communication
- Encourage functional communication for needs, emotions and choices
- Support emotional regulation, transitions and changes in routine
- Facilitate structured, interest-led play and learning activities
- Support positive interaction with siblings and peers in a developmentally appropriate way
- Assist with daily living skills including toileting, dressing, eating and hygiene routines
- Promote safety awareness in all environments, including outdoor settings
- Maintain clear, accurate daily records of support and progress
- Work collaboratively with family members and professionals to ensure consistency

- Comfortable working within a dynamic, family-centred environment where routines may change
