Job Summary
An award-winning, independent development and construction consultancy with a growing presence across the North of England is looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor/Cost Consultant to join their Preston team.
This is a business with real scale and momentum, offering Project Management, Cost and Commercial Management, Employer's Agent, Contract Administration, and Digital Construction services across residential, regeneration, and public and private sector schemes. Despite that scale, the culture remains hands‑on and bespoke, you'll be working alongside experienced Quantity Surveyors and Directors, learning the trade properly rather than being left to sink or swim.
You'll get exposure to a genuinely varied portfolio, supporting cost management, contract administration, and Employer's Agent duties from inception through to completion. JCT Design and Build work is central to the team's output, so you'll build a strong grounding in procurement and contract administration early in your career.
This role suits someone early in their QS journey, ideally working towards or recently graduated with a relevant Quantity Surveying or Construction‑related degree, or already gaining experience as an Assistant QS or Trainee Cost Consultant.
Enthusiasm, a willingness to learn, and a genuine interest in the built environment matter more than years of experience.Residential and social housing sector exposure would be well received but isn't essential.
