We are partnering with a well-established not-for-profit financial services organisation to recruit a Head of Finance. This is a key leadership role offering the opportunity to shape financial strategy while supporting an organisation committed to improving financial wellbeing within the communities it serves.
As Head of Finance, you will lead the Finance function and play a pivotal role in ensuring strong financial governance, robust reporting and effective financial planning. Working closely with the CEO, leadership team and wider organisation, you will provide clear financial insight to support strategic decision‑making and long‑term sustainability. You will also be responsible for the day‑to‑day leadership, development and performance of the finance team, ensuring the function operates effectively and continues to evolve with the organisation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and developing the finance team through effective management, mentoring and performance support
- Preparing and analysing financial reports, statements and budgets for senior leadership and the Board
- Developing and managing the annual budget, monitoring performance and recommending actions to improve financial performance
- Overseeing the organisation’s investment portfolio while ensuring compliance with investment policies and managing risk
- Identifying and mitigating financial risks including credit, liquidity, operational and interest rate risk
- Managing cash flow and maintaining appropriate liquidity levels
- Ensuring compliance with financial regulations and working with internal and external auditors
- Providing financial analysis and strategic insight to support organisational planning and growth
About you:
We’re looking for an experienced finance professional with a strong background in financial management and leadership. You may already be fully qualified (ACCA, CIMA or equivalent), or part‑qualified and looking to continue your professional studies with support from the organisation. You will also be able to demonstrate:
- Experience in financial management
- Experience gained within the credit union, banking or wider financial services sector or other highly regulated environment.
- Experience leading or supervising a team
- Strong analytical and financial interpretation skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- The ability to communicate financial information clearly and confidently to a range of stakeholders
- A collaborative, proactive and solutions‑focused approach
