Help build the next generation of cloud infrastructure for one of the UK's leading Tier 1 banks. We're looking for an experienced Senior Infrastructure Engineer with a passion for AWS, Platform Engineering, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Automation and Cloud Engineering to design and deliver secure, scalable and highly resilient cloud platforms. Working within a modern engineering environment, you'll collaborate with Software Engineers, Architects, Product Owners and Platform teams to build self‑service infrastructure products, enhance CI/CD pipelines and engineer cloud platforms that are secure, observable, resilient and built for operational excellence.
What You'll Be Doing
- Design, build and maintain secure, scalable AWS cloud infrastructure.
- Engineer infrastructure solutions using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
- Develop automation using Python and/or Shell scripting.
- Build, maintain and enhance CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD.
- Design, deploy and support containerised platforms using Docker and Kubernetes (EKS preferred).
- Build intuitive self‑service infrastructure products for engineering teams.
- Develop resilient, observable cloud platforms with security, sustainability and operational excellence at their core.
- Collaborate with Software Engineers, Product Owners, Architects and Platform teams to deliver cloud‑native solutions.
- Develop product roadmaps and manage the lifecycle of infrastructure products.
- Support production platforms, troubleshoot issues and continuously improve infrastructure services.
- Drive infrastructure automation and standardisation across multiple environments.
- Work closely with vendors and internal stakeholders to deliver enterprise infrastructure services.
- Contribute to Agile delivery teams and promote Platform Engineering best practices.
- Participate in an out‑of‑hours on‑call support rota for critical production infrastructure.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Minimum 6 years' commercial experience in Infrastructure Engineering, Platform Engineering, DevOps Engineering or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE).
- Strong commercial AWS experience including: EC2, IAM, VPC, EKS, ECS, S3, CloudWatch, Auto Scaling.
- Strong experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Strong experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience developing automation using Python and/or Shell (Bash) scripting.
- Commercial experience building and maintaining GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
- Good understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
- Experience working within Agile delivery teams.
- Experience designing reusable Terraform modules and automation frameworks.
- Experience supporting modern Platform Engineering solutions.
- Strong Linux administration skills.
- Experience supporting production cloud platforms.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
- Willingness to participate in an out‑of‑hours support rota.
Observability Tooling
- Experience with the following: Grafana, Prometheus, Grafana Loki, Grafana Tempo, Grafana Mimir, CloudWatch, Logging, monitoring and alerting best practices.
