Job Summary
Manage day-to-day finance operations, including purchase ledger, sales ledger, and general ledger tasks. Prepare weekly BACS payment runs, same-day and international payments, ensuring accuracy and strong financial controls. Complete monthly VAT returns, reconcile VAT accounts, and maintain compliance with HMRC requirements. Process journals, staff and corporate credit card transactions, and petty cash. Set up and maintain supplier and customer accounts, ensuring accurate finance master data. Raise sales invoices and carry out proactive credit control to reduce aged debt. Support budget holders with financial reporting, variance analysis, and cost control. Provide cover for the Finance Management Accountant when needed. Offer guidance and supervision to Finance Assistants and other junior finance staff.
About You
Experience working in a busy finance team, ideally within a multi-site or complex organisation. Strong knowledge of VAT, reconciliations, and core financial controls. Confident using accounting systems/ERP and Excel for reporting and analysis. Highly organised, detail-focused, and able to manage competing deadlines. Comfortable working independently while building effective relationships with non-finance stakeholders.
