About the Role:
As a Mortgage Underwriter, you will assess mortgage applications of up to £800k, reviewing all documentation in line with company criteria. Your expertise will be crucial in determining the risk for each applicant and structuring lending rationales that ensure both the bank and customers are protected. You will also work closely with credit agencies, fraud prevention teams, and third-party scheme requirements to complete each application with precision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and assess mortgage applications up to £800k, ensuring compliance with company and lending policies.
- Assess affordability, risk factors, and structure lending decisions for each case.
- Use specialist data and tools to assess risk and support lending decisions.
- Underwrite both residential and buy-to-let applications, including government schemes and high LTV products.
- Provide expert guidance to intermediaries and direct customers, ensuring high-quality service and responsible lending.
Required Experience:
- Recent experience as a mortgage underwriter with lending authority.
- Strong knowledge of the mortgage market, including residential and buy-to-let sectors.
