Governance & Company Secretarial Professional

Governance & Company Secretarial Professional

Full-Time Remote
V

Virteffic is growing, and we are looking for an experienced governance and company secretarial professional to join our team.

We provide flexible governance resource to boards and governance teams across Jersey and Guernsey, and demand for our support continues to grow.

We are open to appointing at either Governance and Secretarial Officer or Senior Governance and Secretarial Officer level. We have deliberately kept the level open because we are more interested in the level at which you can contribute than making assumptions based simply on your current job title or number of years' experience.

The appointment level and responsibilities will reflect your technical capability, drafting standards, professional judgement, client experience and readiness to take ownership.

This is a varied role for someone who enjoys governance, board and committee support, minute writing and company secretarial work, and who would value greater flexibility in how they work.

What we are looking for

We are interested in professionals with experience in governance, company secretarial services, board and committee support or related client-facing work.

Your experience might come from regulated businesses, funds, trust, corporate services or another professional services environment.

You may be developing greater professional independence, with experience supporting meetings, preparing minutes and governance documentation and coordinating client deliverables.

Alternatively, you may already manage board and committee cycles independently, advise on governance processes, produce and review professional documentation and work confidently with directors and clients.

At either level, we are looking for people who demonstrate:

Our expectations

Flexibility is an important part of working at Virteffic, but flexibility does not mean lower professional expectations.

Our clients rely on us to provide dependable, high-quality governance support. We therefore expect our people to take responsibility for their work, communicate openly, meet agreed deadlines and maintain appropriate professional standards.

You will need to be comfortable managing competing priorities and working with different clients, each of whom may have their own requirements, meeting styles, templates and ways of working.

You should also be willing to ask questions and elevate matters when appropriate. Professional judgement includes knowing when something needs further input rather than simply trying to resolve everything independently.

Our flexible working arrangements remain subject to client requirements, agreed availability, meetings and deadlines.

How we work

Virteffic operates a remote-first, flexible model.

Much of our work can be undertaken remotely, although attendance at client meetings or other in-person work may be required depending on your location and client responsibilities.

Our published working arrangements generally operate on a zero-hours basis without guaranteed hours, with workloads dependent on client demand.

Flexibility and accountability go hand in hand. We give capable people autonomy and trust them to manage their responsibilities professionally, supported by clear expectations, practical guidance and a strong team around them.

Flexible working does not mean working in isolation either. We deliberately make time to connect, collaborate, share knowledge and spend time together as a team.

Learning, development and progression

Joining Virteffic does not mean being left to work everything out alone. We provide structured onboarding covering Virteffic, our clients, systems, ways of working and what good looks like. Development continues through practical client experience, mentoring, team knowledge sharing and Virteffic Academy.

Our learning and development covers areas including:

  • Governance and company secretarial practice
  • Minute writing
  • Board effectiveness
  • AI and future governance
  • Leadership and communication
  • Professional and career development

As you become established, there are opportunities to broaden your client exposure, develop your professional judgement and take on additional responsibility.

Future development reflects your capability, professional performance and the requirements of the business.
