Viridor is at the forefront of waste management and resource recovery in the UK, operating the largest network of Energy Recovery Facilities (ERFs). We play a crucial role in supporting the UK’s climate goals by diverting waste from landfills and transforming it into valuable energy resources.
We have an opportunity in Runcorn for a Crane Operator to join our team working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday with occasional Saturdays, on early and late shift pattern. The salary for this role will be £28,104 per year, plus shift allowance and participation in an annual bonus scheme, in addition to our great range of benefits. As Crane Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the overhead gantry cranes, controlling both the waste bunker and Incinerator Bottom Ash (IBA) levels. Your duties will include:
- the mixing, staking, and loading of materials
- feeding the waste into the boiler feed chutes
- loading IBA into vehicles
Taking responsibility for your personal safety and that of others, you will ensure that all activities are performed within the correct methods established through company Health and safety guidance, in line with risk assessments and safe operating procedures.
What are we looking for?
- Have a working knowledge of waste industry legislation
- Be a proficient user of overhead gantry cranes
- Have experience in operating in 15t and 5t overhead cranes
- Ideally have a lifting / slinging qualification, as advantageous
