As our Safety & Compliance Manager you will manage and monitor Health & Safety systems, procedures, and safe systems of work at site level. You will maintain compliance with Viridor management systems and support compliance with environmental permits or licences. Implement policy and procedures to deliver a highly compliant, quality‑led environment with safety at its core. Working closely with the Plant Manager and site team you will support plant development while maintaining high productivity and ensuring a no‑compromise approach to health, safety and environmental compliance.
Responsibilities
- Manage and monitor Health & Safety systems, procedures, and safe systems of work at site level.
- Maintain compliance with Viridor management systems and support compliance with environmental permits or licences.
- Implement policy and procedures to deliver a highly compliant, quality‑led environment with safety at its core.
- Monitor, maintain and manage health and safety risk assessments, safe systems of work (SSOW) and method statements to prevent incidents and accidents.
- Work closely with the Plant Manager and site team to support plant development while maintaining high productivity and ensuring a no‑compromise approach to health, safety and environmental compliance.
Qualifications
- A hands‑on safety professional with experience in industrial settings, preferably an energy‑from‑waste facility.
- Relevant experience within a highly regulated and compliance‑focused environment.
- Strong leadership skills to lead and develop a new team in a start‑up scenario with a no‑compromise approach to health and safety compliance.
- Able to work with the Management Team to embed a safety‑and‑compliance‑focussed culture within a complex workplace.
- Experience of permitted/regulated activities and processes, preferably within a controlled emissions environment.
- Knowledge of the energy‑from‑waste/power industry including legislative knowledge.
- IOSH/NEBOSH safety qualification (or equivalent).
- Awareness of ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001 and ISO 50001 management standards.
- Full UK driving licence.
