We are investing in the future, and we need a talented team with exceptional people, who believe in each other, to help us achieve this. Join us, as we rise to the challenge and build a world where nothing goes to waste.
Viridor is at the forefront of waste management and resource recovery in the UK, operating the largest network of Energy Recovery Facilities (ERFs). We play a crucial role in supporting the UK’s climate goals by diverting waste from landfills and transforming it into valuable energy resources.
A fantastic opportunity for a Shift Technician has arisen at our ERF in Ardley, working 40 hours per week, on a 5 week shift pattern, to include nights. The salary for this role is £43,871.00 plus shift allowance of £6,594.00, location allowance of £2,654.04 and enrolment into the company's bonus scheme.
Energy Recovery Facilities are vital in supporting the UK’s ambition to reduce waste in an efficient and effective manner, helping to reduce the impact of waste on climate change. After reducing, reusing and recycling as much as possible, our Energy Recovery Facilities (ERFs) provide the infrastructure to efficiently recover energy from residual waste, meaning landfill becomes the last resort.
About The Role
The Shift Technician is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the plant from within a central control room and out in the field, on a 24-hour shift rotation. Working as part of a team, your duties will include plant and equipment process changes to optimise process performance, as well as process and equipment fault diagnosis and rectification along with system isolations. You’ll take responsibility for DCS operation and alarm handling, as well as the operation of the ERF and boiler chemistry. When updating the shift log, the Shift Technician will include plant and process changes, and ensure a diligent shift handover takes place so the following shift is well-informed. Continuous and routine monitoring of the plant must also be undertaken to minimise environmental impacts. A key element of this role is continuous personal development in order to unlock your career potential, along with a flexible approach to ensure vital work is achieved timely and accurately.
What are we looking for?
- An understanding of safe systems of work, i.e. plant isolations.
- The ability to think logically and solve problems in an efficient way.
- A Safety qualification, preferably IOSH or NEBOSH.
- Mechanical, electrical or process plant experience.
- The ability to attain the level of an Authorised Person is also desirable.
