Viridien is seeking a Platform Engineer – Infrastructure & Cloud Systems to design, build, and improve infrastructure and platform systems that support software deployment and execution across large-scale, distributed environments. You will work across multiple layers of the stack, including infrastructure platforms, container orchestration, authentication systems, and observability tooling. This role focuses on building scalable, reliable systems and ensuring strong integration between infrastructure and higher-level platforms.

You will join a team focused on infrastructure and platform engineering, supporting distributed systems and large-scale compute environments. The team works across cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes platforms, and system-level tooling to enable reliable, high-performance software deployment and operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Infrastructure & Platform Engineering
    • Design, build, and maintain infrastructure and platform systems across compute, networking, and orchestration layers.
    • Work with and improve OpenStack-based infrastructure environments.
    • Manage and enhance Kubernetes platforms in relation to underlying infrastructure.
  • Security & Access
    • Contribute to authentication, authorisation, and service identity systems.
    • Support secure access patterns including OIDC and access control mechanisms.
  • Observability & Reliability
    • Implement and maintain observability, monitoring, and logging solutions.
    • Improve system reliability, performance, and scalability across platform layers.
  • Architecture & Performance
    • Analyse system performance and optimise infrastructure and platform interactions.
    • Participate in architecture and design discussions across infrastructure domains.

Qualifications

  • Required
    • Experience in software, infrastructure, or platform engineering.
    • Proven experience building and maintaining infrastructure platforms or distributed systems.
    • Experience with cloud infrastructure platforms such as OpenStack or similar.
    • Strong understanding of system deployment, scaling, and operations across infrastructure layers.
    • Ability to design scalable, maintainable, and high-performance systems.
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Experience operating or deploying OpenStack environments.
    • Experience managing Kubernetes-based platforms.
  • Preferred
    • Experience with containerised systems and orchestration tools.
    • Experience with authentication and access control systems such as OIDC.
    • Experience with observability tools such as Prometheus, ELK, Grafana, or Thanos.
    • Experience applying networking concepts, including software-defined networking.
    • Experience working with compute, storage, or hardware-level infrastructure.
    • Experience supporting high-performance or data-intensive workloads.
    • Experience with infrastructure automation and tooling.
    • Experience providing technical leadership or mentorship.
